Ultimately female Vivian is the original Vivian, the version of the character that we knew and enjoyed. There was no reason to change that. And even with the change it's not the same as the original Japanese, as there it was played like a joke and was hilarious while the new American translation makes it unfunny and sad.

I have EDF World Brothers 2 (coming out today) higher in my priority list of games to play on Switch, then the Paper Mario RPG comes afterwards (more likely next week).
It's been a very long time I've played the game on the Gamecube hardware so my memories are fuzzy, but feel free to ask me which parts of the story script I should pay attention when I'll be playing it in moonrunes. Besides the Vivian stuff and the Goomba cat-calling obviously.
