Probably not in every state and town, but some middle Americans who still live comparatively more traditionally nuclear family, the kids don’t find themselves doing kitchen or laundry chores until they leave for college.

I could be wrong or misled, but a number of different Europeans have claimed this, with present Americans agreeing it can be like that.

It really depends on whether parents are capable of parenting or not. A good parent doesn't do every little thing for their kid. They show them how to do something and dole out their responsibilities. In the US, we have unfortunately gotten to the point where adults are coddled so much that they don't know how to not coddle their own kids. It's almost like a conspiracy, honestly.
