The "good ending" for Nick is that he and Kayla get probation, go to rehab, cut ties with the Imholtes, and reconciles with everyone he wronged.
I don't even think there's the problem of "he'll never be able to show his face in public again", certainly not with the church. I can't tell you how many times I've heard stories where there's some variation of "I was at my lowest point, then I finally (re)-committed my life to Jesus Christ and that's where I am today". (They love that stuff!)
Now, will Nick actually make the choices that will lead to all of this? Probably not, but it could happen.
