Not a single post-WWII Republican ever cut spending or balanced the budget as President. Republicans spend money like niggers on the first day of the month. The only President since 1945 who ever bothered to get close to fiscal responsibility was Slick Willy.

The moment gibs start to get cut back, the Chamber of Commerce will scream bloody murder. Most large businesses are dependent on government spending (directly or indirectly), subsidies, special tax breaks, etc. So no Republican dares to cut that back or else they’ll be promptly primaried in the next election.
