I just can’t hate the guy no matter how hard I try.
I have a soft spot for Cody, too.
I still haven't got a satisfactory answer on why they hate Eric beyond 'groid in comics'
A lot of the takes aren't wrong, but I'll add this.
Dick claims to have a low tolerance for political spergory, regardless of which side of the political spectrum whence it comes. He thinks the Comicsgate is political bullshit, and that people are only buying the comics to make a statement, regardless of the quality. They are spending money on comics just to thumb their noses at woke libtards.
As someone who has been a supporter of the criticisms of Comicsgate from early on (Richard Meyer is basically why I am on Kiwi Farms, was a Nick fan, and all this shit), Dick is right. I bought Jawbreakers and the first Cyberfrog primarily out of spite. Jawbreakers was meh. The ART of Cyberfrog is good, but the story? I haven't bought anything since then because the truth is I like the dead Marvel comics from the 80s and 90s (and stuff like Sandman), and the Comicsgate comics aren't my thing and probably never will be. Ideally we could one day reform the mainstream companies, but that's rainbow.
Dick asked that bitch on Flashcast (I forget which bitch) if she had read ISOM. Of course she hadn't. She just bought the comic out of loyalty to the cause, and not based on quality. Dick speculated that the Comicsgate comics were crap and he was (believe me, I hate saying this) right.
Edit: I should add here that I think it was timing; had EVS's comic been under discussion EVS would have been the target. Since it was July's EVS jumped onto the criticism as quick as he could and made Dick an ally.
And surely if the story is shit and doesn't appeal to anyone, nobody would buy the damn things?
See my answer above. They're (we're) buying them for ulterior reasons, and I have to admit that it's sad. If they were actually quality it would be a different story. (I'm sure I am forgetting or am unaware of some exceptions of quality in Comicsgate.)
His audience is (was?) made up of a sizeable number of Christian conservatives who treated him as some kind of godly Christian warrior standing up for their moral values.
I'm an atheist and I liked Nick
despite his God-bothering, which I never really believed, anyway. At most I thought he was probably a naughty nerd like me who maybe was trying to convince himself that he was some righteous Christian. I legitimately liked his personality and talent (and, sober, he does have some talent as an entertainer). My favorite moments are still the Tonkisaw stream and the Shane Homelessburg stream, but the Ronversations and other streams were also fun. I had to pretend I didn't hear the skunk story because cruelty to animals is something I can't abide, and I am ashamed to admit that I was hypocritical about that.
Is Nick on Ozempic or something? It's like all the fat has drained out of is skin and he looks a bit deathly.
I've seen people in his locals ask that question and he was dismissive. I know you're joking, by the way, but just adding in that you're not the only one to have that come to mind.
3. The kids. They'll thrive living with rich, doting grandparents in Florida. They won't have to deal with two overbearing, creepy, recovering addicts trying to make up for their reprehensible behavior.
Are we sure the grandparents aren't just as degenerate?
Admittedly I never took a theology class or went to seminary school, but I'm pretty sure God only commands that we forgive our "trespassers," meaning we don't have to forget.
The Lead Attorney saw that shit and had no idea what it was but still knew to steer clear.
