Were the people who knew him from the lolsuit there because he was a a "trad Christian family man"? Or the people who learned about him from IBS? What about the weebs who came for the Vic lawsuit?
Nick had an audience because people thought he was a competent lawyer, not because of a Christian fantasy people had.
My initial introduction to him came from none of these things, and after a while I did, in fact, start to regard him as a "Christian trad dad," and someone to look up to. I'd even say that before discovering Nick, I haven't had much interest in law at all.
His "I always liked anime" schtick did come off as quite disingenuous, but he used to consistently clarify it with "I watched some DBZ and stuff in college, and basically nothing since," so I gave him a pass.
The "Weeb Wars" fight was openly (per Nicky himself) an opportunity to attempt to win a major battle in the culture war. Crackets saw a medium relatively unspoiled by woke garbage, and went right ahead to raise funds for a legal fight in its service -- a goal I found worthwhile. I'm
still not sure his motives weren't altruistic at that point. Hell, until he went all-in on fangirling over that woman-written revenge rape series and reviewing every fucking episode on FlashCast, I wasn't even sure if he was an actual anime fan who just fell out due to family and general lack of time.
Now it's obvious that he was always a tourist, a chameleon, a poser, etc., looking for the next big thing to latch onto. And he even managed to succeed in doing so -- not once, but twice more!
I'm with Metokur on this one. Imagine what could've been. Imagine how much good in the world Nick could've achieved with his platform and reach. Instead, he chose drinking, drugs, degeneracy, decadence, disgusting depraved debauchery, displayed for all to see.
Bright future indeed. Fuck you, balldo-man.
