On an unrelated note, anyone actually read Isom? The art seems fine, but the story's a little disjointed from the two issues I looked at from 2022. Does the series get better, or did Eric July just find a dedicated niche who liked the work for what it was?

The comic is OK. Not great. Not horrible. Just OK. I'd give it a 6. It's been a bit since I looked at it, but there are areas where the dialogue would have probably been better internal. And vice versa for instance. Second Isom was a little better.

Possibly a cop out, but this was his first attempt at a comic and he's trying to create a universe. First few issues of a new series are usually not the greatest either. I haven't had a chance to look at it yet, but the Salvage comic he did in the magazine was supposedly fairly decent. So, it's probable he's absorbing whatever writing knowledge he can from Dixon, Baron, and the sisters. Because of this, it will be interesting to see how much worse or better Isom 3 will be.

People complain about the art. I don't stare at panels for more than a few seconds so for me it's fine. But it apparently uses a lot of 3D assets. Some people like me don't care. Others seem to think or act like it's the equivalent of killing someone's dog. My guess is the third one should have decent art now that Cainan White got hired to oversee that stuff.

The other thing I think people probably should realize is this is probably a comic that normally would have maybe gotten a decent low five figures. But because July is known in a bunch of areas (YouTube, music, politics, news, etc.). Incredibly, he did a million in a little over a day (probably would have been less than a day had his website not get overwhelmed). Ending up at 3.6 million at the end of the campaign. So, people's expectations on the thing were probably higher than it maybe should have been. My opinion at least.
