GPUs & CPUs & Enthusiast hardware: Questions, Discussion and fanboy slap-fights - Nvidia & AMD & Intel - Separe but Equal. Intel rides in the back of the bus.

I finally bought an RX 6750XT to replace the 980TI.

See you later, assholes.

A buddy of mine recently built a setup with a 7900 GRE and it's been an absolute shitshow. Near constant driver timeouts in the middle of games. This is after multiple DDU and driver rollback paths.

This is why I really hope Intel can pull their head out of their ass and continue to improve their hardware and drivers. AMD can continue to just make a shitty 2nd rate product because poor fags have no other choice unless they want to get bent by Nvidia with less frames per dollar.

Works for me™
Google says to disable MPO, may help for WInblows users. What is it with Wintoddlers and thinking that reinstalling drivers will somehow fix problems, try to find a workaround. Or buy Nvidia if you stick to Windows.

There seems no better place to ask this: I want to buy a headset for chatting on the PS5. It will need to be wireless (I know I will have to use a dongle) and have a single ear as I will only use it for voice. It would also prefer not to sound like I’m trapped at the bottom of a well. I have found the Turtle Beach Recon Air which ticks most the boxes but it has very mixed reviews. Some amount of noise cancellation on the mic would be nice as my speakers can be quite loud. It needs to be available in the UK and I’m not really wanting to go over £50. Any suggestions/advice is welcome.

Have you tried looking at the upgraded version of that headset from Tortoise Beach?

Well I’ve got the stuff for the laptop display rig squared away, it’s a bit more that I was expecting but I’ll live and possibly get the 3D printer too.
  • Monitor: ASUS - TUF Gaming VG289Q1A 28" IPS Widescreen 4K UHD Adaptive-Sync and FreeSync Gaming Monitor - I had a good look at this monitor and it‘s a pretty nice price for a 4K monitor (it’s $259.99 for me thanks to being a Best Buy Plus member, it’s usually sold for $289.99), my only complaint is that it’s a 60hz monitor and my laptop has a 165hz screen. I have a second option in the form of this Samsung Odyssey G3 24" LED 165Hz 1ms Gaming Monitor but only because it provides a discount when bought with another item I need.
  • Speakers: This is something I really didn’t do a lot of research on due to me being retarded.I assumed that an old Harman Kardon subwoofer/speaker combo still worked and it didn’t (the subwoofer powered on but the speakers were shot and it wasn’t compatible with either my Macbook Pro or my ASUS laptop). I found this Logitech Z407 Computer Speaker System that’s gotten good reviews and helps bring down the price of the monitor thanks to an offer from Best Buy.
  • Keyboard and mouse: I found this Razer Basilisk V3 mouse and wired keyboard by SteelSeries. Yes, I know these have the mark of the beast that is LED lighting but I don’t find it to be too gaudy. Part of me wants to go full retard and get this Spongebob-themed keyboard/mouse/mousepad combo by Ghost Keyboards but I have no idea on how trustworth of a brand it is. I also like the idea of the mousepad having a built-in wireless charging pad.
  • Laptop Dock: I saw this docking station by Anker and I thought it was kind of neat, it provides a lot of ports and some other bonuses (most notably a wireless charging station). It also provides a nice spot to hide away the keyboard and mouse when they‘re not in use. I can’t make heads or tails if it has 100w Power Delivery via USB-C but I’m not too worried about that.
And as far as the 3D printer’s concerned I’ve posted about that in the appropriate thread.

They can shove their chinkshit 5090s up their ass for all I care.
Funny, (mainlander) chinks will be banned from getting the RTX 5090, while the RTX 5080 will be based on a significantly smaller GB203 die and 256-bit bus specifically designed to slide under US sanctions (better than 4080 Super, less than 4090 performance, only 16 GB of VRAM). Nvidia tried to sell a 4090D ("Dragon") to China, got cockblocked, and presumably still needs to keep that 5080 under 70 "weighted teraflops" to avoid sanctions (TechPowerUp lists 82.58 TF for the 4090, 73.54 TF for the 4090D, 52.22 TF for the 4080 Super, and 48.74 TF for the 4080).

The 5090 is rumored to have a 448-bit bus and 28 GB of GDDR7 VRAM, an improvement over the previous generation, but just shy of the 30-32 GB some AI models are probably designed for. I will laugh if AMD allows their RDNA4 flagship consumer GPUs to come with 16 GB or 32 GB.

These kinds of sanctions are incredibly pointless, since what matters for the kinds of stuff we don't want the Chinks to do is total compute in the datacenter, not compute per PCB.

Kind of hilarious knowing Nvidia relies on China to develop their GPUs

I'm pretty sure their engineers are in America.
