Why would he admit defeat when he’s claiming everything is wrong? Especially if he’s right? Why would he beg people not to draw conclusions when they’ll do that anyway because they find it funny or hate him or like drama? Why would he ask people to say think of the kids when a majority do not care for them?

Because if he doesn't admit defeat and get with the program, he is looking at possible prison, a felony conviction and not getting back the kids for a long time. Even from a political perspective, ruthless self-interest would suggest a course of action to minimize the sentence rather than pursing a "moral" course of action involving seeking vindication by a government which he believes is criminal, dishonest and out to get him.

There is also no conceivable path out of this case where he does not end up in a long period of supervision and drug testing. Even if he won on all criminal stuff, he would still have to agree to drug testing to get his kids back.

I am angriest because a lot of what Rekieta just said in his cope stream was not wrong. You should not trust the govt. They will grind you under their heel if you find yourself in their sites. You are innocent until proven guilty. Ask Null. The process is the punishment.
However. these charges against Nick and Kayla are for drugs. And neglecting their children. Now it appears, allowing a child access to cocaine. All alleged. You better have a good defense and explain how and why the govt would plant drugs. Why your children came to the attention of your community. How the govt specifically saw you as any type of threat to them that they would aim to destroy you.

Sure hope the case is televised. Also hope that Kayla's atty is paying attn. Let's see how fast Nick throws her under the bus.

IMO this isn’t just the government, this is Kayla’s family asking the government to help them protect the kids which makes how this functions very differently than if it was just “mandated reporter” and a standard CPS investigation.

CPS is a weird and how it functions depends on where you live. Nick would probably still have his kids if he lived in bad neighborhood. Nick lives in a tidy, white, small community so the “community standard” bar is much higher than it would be in the ghetto. Also Kayla’s nice family is right there, ready to take in the kids, so that makes it much easier.

Nick is also the absolute last type of family CPS would target - wealthy, lawyer, white. They got some ducks in a row coming for Rekeita. I guarantee they have family cooperation in this case. Kayla’s family would be horrified at what’s been going on the last two years and they knew reporting and cooperating would get the kids with them where they would be safe. I think things reached such a crisis point that Kayla’s family decided CPS intervention was needed because all their private attempts failed and/or they were now being totally locked out of the kid’s lives.

IIRC Kayla’s mom fostered many kids over the years so not only would she be intimately familiar with the system but was already an approved foster parent. With the kinship foster option on the table it would have been such a clear choice to get the grandkids under their care.

Nick would have got his kids back yesterday if he wasn’t an obstinate asshole more concerned with his ego, April and drugs than his own kids. CPS is mostly looking for parents to acknowledge there is a problem and to pledge to get better by following steps A,B and C. If Nick and Kayla had just admitted there was an problem and agreed to some Mickey Mouse therapy visits and some piss tests the kids would have been handed over already. Instead Nick dug his heels in and refuses any concessions of wrong doing so now the kids get to stay in family care (good).

There are countless horrible stories of kids ending up dead because they were handed back, repeatedly, to monster parents just because the parents behaved themselves for a few weeks and promised to do what the court asked of them. (See Harmony Montgomery). If Nick and Kayla would have just done some basic lip service the kids would be back in their house. I think Nick is enjoying the no kid vacation and isn’t in any particular hurry to get them back. April is finally getting her quality time with Nick.

Refusing the piss tests is also sus af. I get not wanting to have to pee on demand by the government and as far as the criminal case goes he doesn’t have too. The piss tests are being requested for the safety of his kids. If he was clean he would submit to them, under protest, just to prove a point and get his kids back. But Nick isn’t clean, doesn’t want to stop using, so he’s not going to agree to any drug testing because he’s an addict and doesn’t want to be sober. He can argue “privacy” all he wants but the well being of his children is now a public matter.

Nicks big problem is the coke. Being an alcoholic isn’t illegal, nor is having multiple girlfriends, and you can argue your household cleanliness standards aren’t up to the govt to approval. But coke is illegal, no way around that one.

Anyway, maybe Nick can join Susan Schofield as leader in the CPS is Satan sphere. Susan is going to law school too! The anti-CPS sphere is composed of absolute schizos and addicts who believe the govt is somehow making big bucks by removing kids from bad homes. Nick could become the top dog of that world real quick. The anti-CPS “movement” has never gotten any momentum because it’s filled with absolute nutters and angry parents that lost custody for very valid reasons.

CPS does fuck up sometimes. You hear far far more criticism of CPS for failing to remove kids or protect them from shit homes.

CPS removing kids from homes they shouldn’t have is pretty rare. People who want to defend parental right against CPS on legal grounds mostly have to deal with textbook shitty parents. It’s rare, almost unheard of for, kids to be removed from a decent home. The biggest reason kids get taken from a good parent is false abuse allegations which is usually the result of family custody fights. CPS isn’t storming in am taking kids for no reason, you have adults making serious allegations and/or coaching kids to lie to get in that mess so I think the problem there is shitty family weaponizing CPS and CPS trying to navigate that mess.

The other issue is shitty foster homes. CPS is always in dire need of foster homes and sometimes some real shit heads get approved to be foster families. It’s why removal is a last resort and kinship foster placement is always a priority.
