In a future EU game Anglicanism should be represented as an Episcopalianism religion that has a sliding scale between Antinomianism and Calvinism to represent the actual theological/practical leanings of the Church at a given moment.
I’ve come to learn that Anglicanism wasn’t a coherent religion at all in that timeframe, it was every asshole in England fighting to make his specific sect control the Church.
Edit: To elaborate, small p-presbyterianism was basically religious federal republicanism, small e-episcopalianism was religious one-party state dictatorship, small c-congregationalism was religious democracy. Independents in the English Civil War period were religious freedom people.
The Calvinists in England (Puritans) were divided amongst themselves between people pushing for episcopal, for presbyterian and for congregationalist/independent church structures. The Antinomians were basically Catholics that were PUSSIES and wouldn't admit it. What the game currently calls Reformed is basically Presbyterianism, Huguenots, Dutch Reformed, Swiss Reformed etc. all in one, any presbyterian Calvinists. Anabaptists, I don't think Paradox has ever done, and Evangelicalism belongs as a late-game emerging religion for the US/British Isles.
