I have bad news everyone, The new Victoria 3 dlc is actually good.
Why is that bad news? I think most players would prefer it not to suck so we have more to play. From what I've seen/read everyone is saying diplomacy and stuff is good now, which is great, but for me personally I'm not sure I'll be coming back until/unless they totally overhaul the economy because the current version is kinda shit.

Also there's apparently a peak Paradox bug where Persia gets a claim on the US state of Georgia, instead of the country. Lol. LMAO even.

I'd honestly like nothing more than it to be a good game, as unlikely as that is.
Pretty sure everyone here would, too, me included. Laughing at the trash fire that Vicky 3 turned out to be is a consolation prize. But given what a magnificent trash bonfire it is there's room to dance so long as we mind the smell.

Ridiculous, but they did suck in CK2.
Needed naval warfare and major changes to the election system at a minimum.
What's bullshit is that instead of reworking them for the sequel, they opted to just completely remove them and they will likely be resold back to the player in a year or two

In a future EU game Anglicanism should be represented as an Episcopalianism religion that has a sliding scale between Antinomianism and Calvinism to represent the actual theological/practical leanings of the Church at a given moment.

I’ve come to learn that Anglicanism wasn’t a coherent religion at all in that timeframe, it was every asshole in England fighting to make his specific sect control the Church.

Edit: To elaborate, small p-presbyterianism was basically religious federal republicanism, small e-episcopalianism was religious one-party state dictatorship, small c-congregationalism was religious democracy. Independents in the English Civil War period were religious freedom people.

The Calvinists in England (Puritans) were divided amongst themselves between people pushing for episcopal, for presbyterian and for congregationalist/independent church structures. The Antinomians were basically Catholics that were PUSSIES and wouldn't admit it. What the game currently calls Reformed is basically Presbyterianism, Huguenots, Dutch Reformed, Swiss Reformed etc. all in one, any presbyterian Calvinists. Anabaptists, I don't think Paradox has ever done, and Evangelicalism belongs as a late-game emerging religion for the US/British Isles.

Anglicanism? A hot mess? That would be groundbreaking news if that wasn't its default state.

I am one of the 8 people who like Imperator Rome, i recently reinstalled Crusader Kings 3 and having a pretty good time with it, but fuck if I don't hate Paradox's DLC Jewry, they make EA look like generous communists in comparison
Imperator Rome, a beautiful baby, was coat hangered and kicked down the stairs by Paradox. EU5 is looking suspiciously like Imperator Rome in ideas and map composition.

Imperator was a test bed for a lot of ideas it would seem. It makes sense, they didn't need to risk the name of one of the big already established IPs to test a radical departure in design principles. Vicky III does however fuck with that theory.
I'm a Roman history fanatic and even I couldn't muscle that abortion of a game down my gullet. It's fucking astonishing how hard they dropped the ball on IR, and honestly sad.

I want a good Rome sim. Imagine a well-made system implementing the cursus honorum. Hell, given how much Paradox love cassus belli systems, why not explore the hyper-legalistic Roman approach to justifying every war as defensive?

I just want my bread and circuses.

How is Imperator an "abortion of a game"? Have you tried it with the Invictus mod?

New Tinto Talks, this time on Ages and Institutions.

ages.png

The game will feature 6 ages and 18 institutions, with each age having 3. Each age is roughly 100 years but not quite (which likely means the last and first ages are shorter, otherwise the game would end in 1937 which would be a bit problematic IMO making the same systems that work on 100 Year War England work on WW1 Great Britain.)

Diary provides a overview of where the historical spawns are alongside the requirements to spawn them during normal game. These institutions do not have the same impact as in EU4 due to differences in how the game now handles tech but this will be explained next week.
