Today, I am announcing a petition on Change.org.
Currently the Supreme Court is contemplating whether the sitting presidents have absolute
immunity from criminal prosecution for acts committed in the outer perimeter of their
official duties as president.
In the Court of Appeals, the justices reasoned that, if this became the law of the land,
then the president could conceivably order SEAL Team 6 to assassinate his political rival
and face no repercussions, unless he was first impeached by the House of Representatives and
convicted by a two-thirds vote of the Senate, a barrier which has proven in recent years
to be damn near insurmountable.
Compounding the problem is the fact that the Supreme Court has recently thrown Trump a
huge political favor in the case of Trump v. Anderson, so it is not inconceivable they
will do so again in the case of Trump v. U.S.
If the Supreme Court decides to give immunity to sitting presidents, it would mean nothing
less than the total collapse of the rule of law in its entirety.
Worse still, nothing short of a constitutional amendment could possibly change a SCOTUS ruling
of this nature.
It seems unlikely that a mere statute would be sufficient to overturn that.
However, a constitutional amendment will take ages to pass, so if it does come to that,
President Joe Biden will have enough time to make Trump regret this pyrrhic victory.
According to the defense's own logic, a president can order SEAL Team 6 to assassinate a political
rival with near-total impunity unless a majority of the House and two-thirds of the Senate
say otherwise.
Therefore, if the Supreme Court gives Trump this victory, Biden should take this opportunity
before a constitutional amendment is passed to eliminate Trump from the equation.
Look at the pinned comment.
You will find a link to a petition on Change.org.
This petition requests that, in the event the Supreme Court declares sitting presidents
immune from prosecution, that President Joe Biden use this power to order the assassination
of one Donald J. Trump before the Constitution has a chance to be amended to overturn this
heinous ruling, and then immediately declare immunity for his actions before pardoning
the actual assassins.
Even if a constitutional amendment is passed, it cannot be applied retroactively anyway,
so President Biden will be safe and his pardons of the actual assassins will protect his lackeys.
From there, any reservations the conservatives might have about passing a constitutional
amendment will immediately vanish, and the Presidential Accountability Amendment, for
lack of a better term, will instantly have massive bipartisan support.
The only risk to this plan is if the Senate votes to convict Biden on impeachment charges,
but since the Senate is currently 51-49 in favor of the Democrats, including three independents
who are all left-leaning, that means at least 18 Democrat senators would have to turn heel
and vote against their own president.
But in this one, ultra-specific case, it would be morally justifiable to acquit the president,
since the president's crime would only be to ensure that justice would not escape a
man who absolutely deserves to have justice dealt to him, but who, pending the SCOTUS
ruling, would otherwise be above the law.
In this one, ultra-specific case, it's assassination or nothing.
Moreover, it would only be lashing out against the very man who created this immunity in
the first place, using the very immunity he relied on against him.
As a result, it seems highly unlikely that 18 Democrat senators would disagree with the
above logic strongly enough to vote to convict Biden, because this time it really is a special
case.
Please sign this petition so that we'll have justice one way or another.
In the meantime, however, I am Acerthorn and this has been Purple Politics.
