Just to circle back to his stupid bleach justification.
Obviously it's acceptable to have bleach in your house because there are appropriate purposes for having bleach (like cleaning. I know Nick isn't much for that but some people do it). You are expected to prevent your child from consuming bleach. If your child consumes bleach, that is neglect. If your child consumes bleach, you are going to need to provide CPS with a reasonable plan to prevent that from happening in the future. Nick is a retard who won't even discuss a plan to protect the children.
If your child shows up at the hospital with any number of injuries, you get asked questions that are obviously screeners for CPS. If your answers don't make any sense, CPS gets involved.
CPS is a Kafkaesque nightmare and the best way out is to be As Cooperative and Respectful as Humanly Possible. Whatever the 23-year-old assigned to the case wants, you do, and you do it with a good attitude. It's the worst possible situation for someone like Nick. It actually takes self control for parents who are being targeted for what they feel are dumb reasons to swallow their own unhappiness and suck it up so they get their kids back faster. Nick could never do it.
