Wikipedia licenses all of its stuff under the Creative Commons license, basically meaning you can do whatever you want with it so you can legally reupload Wikipedia to another site. Basically, the site weighs very little, being like 20 GB or maybe even less without the images, so it would not be hard to make an alternative at all. Im so tired of this defeatist mindset. I just wish someone programming savvy could pull this off. I would gladly give them money to do so.

I will note there is good reason for this... in theory. Lets take the infamous "Black people do way more crime than white people". When presented as is you are forced to draw your own conclusions. Inevitably any encyclopedia would have to interpret it or lay out a long debate about it... which would require secondary sources. Effectively their policy is to skip the middle man, and require the secondary sources as their main thing because they would inevitably have to use it anyway. Then structure their procedures around it because its a publicly edited thing and therefore having blanket rules means less overall confusion.

The problem with this is twofold. First, it assumes that the secondary sources are unbiased. Second, it assumes its editors are unbiased. And anyone who can see reality knows that neither of those is true.
