Mega Rad Gun Thread

Anyone have any recommendations on sites to purchase a moist nugget from? Also are there any years/manufacturers/models I should just outright avoid?

I got to shoot a buddy's Mosin like 10 years ago and really enjoyed it but then muh imports ban so getting one cheap was out of the question and now I have adult money and am currently on a surplus bug and want one again.

I'm not looking to get gouged but I'm also wary of people selling them for under 600 or the dreaded sporterized versions. Am I just better off combing LFGS or is the Internet superior here?
Hmm the Mosin Crate is a good bet although his stiff arrives when it arrives so be quick with the mouse.

Beyond that gun auction sites (NOT FUCKING GUNBROKER I HATE IT SO MUCH) like this good one here, Gun auction

Sometimes gun shows have good ones (that's how I get mine)

Man all milsurp guns are retardedly priced these days.

Mausers generally start at $500+ even Rusty POS ones are $300+.

Makarovs start at $500 and rapidly rise from there

Fml I didn't get three Mosins at $99 each

yeah, it is insane how quickly prices on mill sup went up.

feel the same way about cheap sks and takarev. i remember when you used to get them new in box with spare mag, holster, and cleaning rod for $99. glad i got my vz when i did. $200 for it and two mags.
apparent J&G has them for $300 which is still a very good deal. (shopping around you might be able to find one a tad bit cheaper) i recommend everyone in this thread to get one while you can.

The CZ82 makes the Makarov obsolete.
This is a definite buy gentleman.

I got a Mosin for $75 many years ago and it wasn’t worth that. There is a reason they are called “garbage rods”
The first three I got were from crates that a bunch of us on the Mosin-Nagant forums pooled & paid for; it was $50ea IIRC, first in got first picks. Out of those three crates I got a nice 1940 Izhevsk M38 carbine, an even nicer '29 Tula hex 91/30 (which I still have), and a Russian captured (recaptured?) M39.

Not long ago someone made me an offer I couldn't refuse (like borderline stupid) for the M39, even though it was post-war arsenal refinished. Just being an M39 was enough for the guy. After that & watching prices go up on clapped out garbage rods, I'm still kicking myself for not snatching up every Tula hex & Finnish Mosin I came across back in the day, because $150-300ea was too much geld compared to what I was paying normally.

Overrated? REEEEEEE!

But yes, I'm one of the faggots that likes that round so I get where you're coming from about its fans.
This happens with ever new wonder round. 40, .357 Sig, .300 Blk, 6.5 creedmore, etc.

The fans think its the best thing since semi auto but they often lose sight of the value in established rounds. .45acp, 9mm (still euro but were used to it now), 380acp, .22lr, 357mag, 5.56, 7.62, 12ga, 30-06, etc

Time tested and time proven rounds have a value that transcends a ballistic chart or a gel test.

The 2008 election did irreversible damage to overall gun prices, 2012 solidified them, Russia sanctions put a clamp on imports, and this current Eastern European disagreement eliminated the chance of getting guns from Russia.
All of this combined with what is now called the YOLO/FOMO(You Only Live Once/Fear Of Missing Out) mindset means people will pay retarded amounts of money for trash only because there will come a time they will not be able to get it and they want it now.

Not paying retarded amounts of money for obscure autistic shit but many of my firearms purchases have 100% been fueled by that mentality.

Why do I own a G3? Why do I own a P90? Because who the fuck knows what will happen 1 5 or 10 years from now.

please dont remind me of 2008. right before that happened i decided it was time to buy a good priced sks next time i found one at a gun show. guess what happened next? the sks was one of the very first guns everyone panic bought. i was screwed so hard out of the one gun i very much wanted. to this day i dont have one and i cry myself to sleep at night remembering how good the prices were and how easy they were to find.

all these years i have been hoping that the prices would drop. i figured, very wrongly btw, that after the panic, people would eventually start selling off some of the guns they bought. i was hoping we would see people drop their unwanted sks onto the market for a bit of cash they needed for other bills. so far that hasnt happened in enough numbers for it to affect the overal price or avaliability.

i think im just going to have to bite the bullet and slap down the money to get one.
