Whether Nick put him up to it or not there's a good chance Ralph committed a felony in Minnesota by doing that. MN recently revised their doxing/harrasment/stalking laws.
It does look very bad for Nick to be seen partying with him immediately after the hearing and right before doxing Aaron.
It's kind of up to Aaron, as someone I assume either is or will be on the witness list, to contact the prosecutor if he thinks that would result in something.
IANAL but Rekieta ( via 'buying' Ralph as a confederate, as some have alleged here) or just Ralph may have opened him up to third degree witness tampering:
Minnesota Statue on witness tampering & relevant bit:
"Whoever does any of the following is guilty of tampering with a witness...Subd. 2a.Tampering with a witness in the third degree...(2) by means of intimidation, intentionally influences or attempts to influence a person who is or may become a witness to testify falsely at any trial, proceeding, or inquiry authorized by law."
"A person commits harassment under this section if the person:...
(2) follows, monitors, or pursues another, whether in person or through any available technological or other means;
(3) returns to the property of another if the actor is without claim of right to the property or consent of one with authority to consent;...
(
uses another's personal information, without consent, to invite, encourage, or solicit a third party to engage in a sexual act with the person."
(2) follows, monitors, or pursues another, whether in person or through any available technological or other means;
(3) returns to the property of another if the actor is without claim of right to the property or consent of one with authority to consent;...
(
With regard to the felony, I think you're misremembering that MN did amend their harassment statue to make doxing of LEOs & judicial personnel a felony. If it's argued that "witness tampering" constitutes "intent to influence...a judicial proceeding" that may make it a felony? I dunno.
"Subd. 3. Aggravated violations.(a) A person who commits any of the following acts is guilty of a felony...
commits any offense described in subdivision 2 with intent to influence or otherwise tamper with a juror or a judicial proceeding..."
commits any offense described in subdivision 2 with intent to influence or otherwise tamper with a juror or a judicial proceeding..."
Anything moving for this I suppose will be determined by how much the prosecution want to fuck with Nick and Nick's conduct isn't helping him in that department. There's certainly kindling here.
