In 164 hours of video, and after spending 6-7 hours over two nights reviewing it (that I can never get back), I found that Thor spent 163 hours and 45 minutes not working on HeartBound, with only 15 minutes of actual 'attempts' to work on it. This feels like a case of Yanderdev 2.0, maybe even worse. I checked as thoroughly as I could—Thor genuinely only tried working on HeartBound for 15 minutes.
Mald spends 1% of his streaming time working on his game. What a dedicated dev and a truly driven artist; he just can’t stop himself from finishing his creation.

Edit:
I was the fool all along; I calculated with 15 hours when, in fact, Mald only worked 15 minutes.
164x60=9840
(15/9840)x100=0.152
More like 0.152% not even a whole fucking digit bud.

Holy shit, I would have guessed 9 hours maybe 12, a mere 15 minutes is mad. I cannot fathom how someone could do so little work in so much time, I would go genuinely insane with being so unproductive.

let's see who contributed the most to their team shall we?
So we know Jason at least contributed something.

The part of the puzzle he figured out wasn't super challenging. ROY G. BIV is just the color of the rainbow: Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Indigo, Violet. The math shown in the sheet is pretty straightforward if you take into consideration the rainbow hint. The colors count upwards in a base 7 system:
Red = 0
Orange = 1
Yellow = 2
Green = 3
Blue = 4
Indigo = 5
Violet = 6

Since there are no other colors, we can't count higher and must assume the shapes of the bottles denote multiplication:
Square Bottle = 7 * 0 + color (or 0-6)
Round Bottle = 7 * 1 + color (or 7-13)
Triangle Bottle = 7 * 2 + color (or 14-20)
Hexagon Bottle = 7 * 3 + color (21-27)

Maybe people aren't as autistic as I am, but it wouldn't have taken more than a couple minutes to figure out and write the conversions. The modulo division would have probably tripped me up for longer than deciphering the bottles. But most A+ Certified aspies learn to count in binary (base 2) or hexadecimal (base 16), so it's not a rare skill anyway.

the only argument i can think of in his favour is:

1. why would he stream himself writing closed-source code

aside from that though, big yikes. does he spend much time talking about how much time he spends coding heartbound?

.. 15 minutes of productivity
I get his youtube clips in my feed all the time. He has some coding environment/ editor open in most of these (before transitioning to paint to visually aid whatever tangent the short is about of course) and I'd assumed he did in fact code in his streams based on the fact. I wouldn't have guessed it was this bad. I wonder if it's 100% a facade or if he genuinly means to progress but can't for whatever reason. The most important question is left unanswered; What did he do in those 15 minutes of divine interference?

It was answered in the notes I'm just lazy and missed it by skipping them

He repeatedly failed to start his editor, failing to do any actual programming. Its in the notes.

In my raw notes, I went into a bit more detail but I will say it here for folks who won't bother to read it.
He was trying to launch his engine. Game Maker, but it was having issues launching. I gave him those minutes since again, he seemingly was trying to launch it. To work on it. But since it wasn't working he did not bother with it. I'm sure there are streams of him coding a bit. But I find that he seldomly does it if at all. Plus the code you may see on his shorts might not even be of HeartBound, but BlockGame config files. (a Minecraft server he does "on the side" that I found had a lot more time into it than HB did)

YOU FUCKING CHAD, YOU READ MY NOTES! I AM HAPPY AND MY NIGHT IS MADE.

I read them before the conclusion hoping to build it up more after you spent all that time digging. I was expecting to tally up hours in my head. (lmao)

If you can still edit the post you should clarify it there, especially if it does get linked in the op. You're too generous describing it as "time spent working" with no elaboration.

I'll probably put a little blurb in there somewhere as I do not want to fuck up the punch of the reveal. But yeah I do see why it can be confusing.
So it will go as follows.

In 164 hours of video, and after spending 6-7 hours over two nights reviewing it (that I can never get back), I found that Thor spent 163 hours and 45 minutes not working on HeartBound, with only 15 minutes of actual 'attempts' to work on it. (for clarification, "tried" meaning ,these 15 minutes were not even coding, just him trying to launch his Game Maker client so, if you don't count that, 0 minutes were actually spent coding)

I'd expand it into a second "Now what was he working on in those 15 minutes?" paragraph. You get two punches instead of one.

Added that to the post. just 3 sentences or so further digging into how really pathetic those 15 minutes were.
Did you mean to keep both the note in parenthesis and the paragraph at the end? I feel like it would punch better in place of the edit note, but that's just me I guess.

Also do the edit time limits increase with account age? I have like an hour or something.
Edit: this post got report and delete buttons, which i assume is that increasing.
