I'm not a GI Joe guy in general, but the iteration I was familiar with was the 2000's era animated series about the Joes basically being the A Team, a bunch of soldiers-turned-mercs framed for a crime they didn't commit and dedicated to helping everyone they meet along the way. I think it was acting as a prequel since a lot of time is dedicated to the characters getting to the normal status quo (this is how Cobra Commander became deformed, this is how a villain got his prosthetic hand, this is how Deathstro got his name and mask, ect.). Loved the road trip aspect, loved the action, and every line from Tunnel Rat was gold.

A week back, I saw that a show called Unicorn Academy my friend's daughter was watching, and the designs looked nice so I decided to do some concept art research. Then I ran into some shady shit. An audition link was floating around, asking for a troon or some basic enby bitch/groomed boy to voice some Lebanese tranny kid. As well as a charcter mentioning her 'moms' but I cross that off as a throwaway/cheap lip service for Twitter tards to lap up like the creeps they are. I told my friend about it, and warned her of the future seasons. Hopefully the studio pussies out and re-edits and revamps those things. I only saw mid-production animations that still had errors and audio issues. There's a chance it can change. If not, I'll do some audio work myself, cuz I really am protective of the kids I babysit. I'm done with giving degenerates an inch.

I think that one was GI Joe Renegades. I didn't see it when it was new but I've seen a couple episodes since and it was pretty dope. that one I know had a short run because Hasbro is retarded so they cancelled it because they wanted to focus the brand on the second live action movie. which sucked. It ended up being the last GI Joe cartoon. not to go full yo joe schitzo here but the way they handle that franchise is totally retarded. the only thing that has kept it going at all is the fact larry hama has been writing the comic since 1982 and it's in the 300s now. as someone barely under 30 I'm probably legit like the youngest fan of GI Joe. kids don't give a fuck, and it's because they don't even bother marketing to them. if they were smart they would just make GI Joe cartoons for adults because they're the only people who give a shit and buy any of their stuff anyways.

they made that snake eyes movie a couple years ago which nobody saw (it sucked and somehow fundamentally misunderstood the easiest character to understand) and wondered why it bombed but the last movie was 10 years prior and nobody liked it, it was a reboot about one random character, and nobody under the age of 25 knows who the fuck snake eyes is so why would they go see it? you won't see any mainstream success with your toy commercial movie if you have nothing targeting kids to keep brand awareness going, and with GI Joe there isn't anything targeting anyone outside of the comics which are only going to be fairly niche older fans. if they had a cartoon on tv for kids and one for adults they might get somewhere but GI Joe is just going to fade away into minor obscurity because they haven't even tried to keep the brand relevant.

if you look at something like the transformers or even the ninja turtles at least they constantly have a new show on tv to keep kids giving a shit. whether those shows are good or not isn't even important, just the fact they keep themselves in the general consciousness of 10 year olds is why they'll stay evergreen properties that continually make money. things aren't like they were in the 80s or even through the 00s where a US military based property would be THAT huge it's always going to be less popular and universal than something like mutant ninja brothers or robots that turn into cars but that said basic marketing goes a long way and they could have at least a small profitable franchise if they cared at all.

this isn't just a GI Joe problem, or a toy cartoon problem but really kids aren't picky and a lot of people in these industries spend all their time trying to crack the code on how to have a franchise and really you just need material to get people in the door. nobody is going to buy the merch or see the movie if they don't even know what the fuck something is even by cultural osmosis.

GI Joe Renegades. And it was a different continuity altogether. Destro in the original series put on the mask because he and his ancestors were pissed off that the law executed their forefather for selling to both sides of the English Civil War. So they're going to keep the mask on until law and order has been eliminated. That's not the same reason why Destro has the mask in Renegades.

Also, in Renegades, Cobra is a legal corporation that usually has the law on their side. That was never the case in the original GI Joe series, the latter had it so that Cobra from the start was a terrorist organization, and Duke was never persecuted for attacking them. In fact, he and his unit were called in by the law specifically to deal with Cobra. It also took place during the Cold War; we see Cobra attack the Soviet Union in the first episode arc of the original show, before the Soviets fell in the 1990s, whereas Renegades takes place post-2000s, after the fall of the Soviets, where the Baroness boasts to a former Russian soldier that her family ruled under the Tzar, then under the Communists, then under the Capitalists, saying that they were born to rule.

God, Flapjack really was one of those “You had to be there” cartoons.
The only one I can think of off the top of my head is “Kid vs. Kat”. Where the entire premise is just the trope of “cute thing is actually evil and only one character knows the truth but gets shit on for it”.

I vaguely remember some real oddballs from a DVD rental we used to have nearby years ago, like Mummy Nanny. Sadly didn’t get to see most of them before it closed and turned into a Dollar General. Which is a shame, because there was a gold mine of shit in the kids section. Like Foodfight and the Donkey Kong cartoon.

It's also always the most shallow and consumer friendly version of a Muslim ever. Just a girl in a head wrap with an occasional " I don't celebrate Christmas! I'm different" whining.
