Call of Duty Thread - Potential return to form? Or nothing but cope on the horizon? You decide!

The main thing I remember from ww2 was doing that glitch in the lobby where you could emote sitting down cross legged and then zoom around the map stuck in the pose. You could glitch onto the roof and stuff too. Think I enjoyed that more than the gameplay!
Emotes in shooters has to be the worst thing yet. In WWII and Black Ops 6, they do these goofy emotes in the post game screen with these deadpan, expressionless faces/eyes. Even worse in Black Ops 6 where they have sound effects for each emote. Why?

They worked well enough in Black Ops 3, but later ones just felt soulless. Emotes during gameplay is a whole another set of cancer, just like weapon inspection animations or sprays. Incorporating social features like this in a WAR SHOOTER shows you how out of touch both developers and fanbase is.

thats exactly why I hope they never revisit WW2, they would put some pathetic nigger dance in it they just wouldnt be able to resist

We don't need to imagine, they put laser guns/snoop dogg/anime in a WW2 game already. It's called "Vanguard" and it's made by the same people who made WW2. I already posted enough cringe from that game in this thread, you can look back if you haven't seen it.

yeah I remember the laser guns and shit now that you mention it, its honestly disgusting and an insult to those who actually fought in WW2, imo if they cant depict WW2 the right way then it should be off-limits to FPS developers

I also posted who works at Sledgehammer now, so it shouldn't be surprising. All I will say about them is that they refused to hire a WW2 weapon expert, since they didn't want a "white racist chud" in their office. Hence, we get gun gore memed about to this day, this is actually the reason why these guns look so awful.
Vanguard is definitely the worst COD game ever made and possibly the worst WW2 game ever made. it definitely has the worst Zombies mode ever made. How anyone can take SHG seriously is beyond me, but that's the state of COD fandom now, where there is a sizable chunk of fanbase who will still give them the time of day.

Right, so... I tried MWR out again, had it as a download from a sale they had a long time ago, and... I just feel done. I tried a few games out; aside from taking quite a bit to find a decent lobby - not helped by Activision's matchmaking frequently dropping because it's Activision - it feels like everyone is just sweating their ass off these days. Constantly stuck in a "spawn-die" loop where I can't even play the game because I just immediately get lasered by some kiddie with an LMG or AR. Constantly getting flashbanged to the point where I can't move, then killed by some bunny-hopper. Frequent grenade spam as well, especially in tandem with the constant flashing. Then they just start spamming streaks like the helicopter, which of course you can't do anything about because you just keep getting killed instantly and your team is no help.

Doesn't help that the game being old means that there's likely cheaters around; just dealt with a guy with an LMG that seemed to constantly know where everyone was at all times and was constantly snapping to my teams' positions. Not quite sure if he was hacking - he died a pretty good chunk - but it got pretty suspicious.

It's a shame, too; this game's got some great maps - I fucking love the Pripyat locations - I was honestly going to grind out some stuff from the depot, and the game does feel pretty solid overall. Thing is... if I can't even play the game because of bullshit, then why should I shell out more time/money?

It sucks too, because aside from Ghosts, I can't really think of any CoD games worth playing nowadays; Advanced Warfare and Infinite Warfare are dead, I'm not a fan of BO3 and 4's Specialists - I prefer generic operators to specific characters, personally - I've already talked about WW2 on the previous page, none of the pre-Ghosts games are available on PS4/5, and I'm avoiding MW2019 onward because of wokeshit.

I agree, the issue is though is that these videos are screaming into a void, Activision wont listen to them because theres hordes of sub-80 iq brownoids buying these microtransactions anyway
Me: Stops reliably buying a $60 game every year because it got gay
Niggers: Spend hundreds of dollars on Snoop avatars and weed skins

Yeah, guess who Activision listens to?

@Scream Aim Fire I basically only play with bots now.

Oh, I can agree with that; bot matches are great, I've had some fun on Ghosts in particular. My issues tend to stem from two main reasons: the first being that it sometimes feels more entertaining to play with actual players. The second is because, from Advanced Warfare through WW2, you can only get the DLC weapons through Supply Drops, or through the mission teams for some IW guns... which sucks, because the DLC guns are really fun in most cases.

Not that the base game guns are bad, mind - BO3, Infinite Warfare and Advanced Warfare come to mind - it's just that the DLC weapons tend to feel more entertaining. BO3's weapon selection was good enough that I never really cared, and both Infinite Warfare's Shaolin key glitch and BO4's Supply Drop deal make the grind for guns easier. Meanwhile, AW's DLC guns feel balanced enough that I don't entirely care outside of completion's sake; heck, my favorite guns are the M1 Irons and OHM.

That said, both MWR and WW2's DLC guns feel REALLY strong. It's not uncommon in either game to see entire lobbies using nothing but either of the two guns, and even in Private Matches they still feel great. Especially in MWR; the bullpup Scar and the Luger both feel extremely strong in particular, and while the game is fun enough without them...

The grind doesn't help; WW2 is still active, Zombies can give you supply drops, and you can buy variants of most guns with salvage, so that's solid enough outside of dealing with the game being fairly dull. Meanwhile, MWR is a complete grind; there's no alternate mode that grants supply drops or salvage, so if you're wanting the DLC guns for Private Match then you either need to grind against sweats or pay real money for drops.

TL;DR; I hate the supply drop grind because it fucks with my fondness for completion/challenges. Ironically, I don't feel the same way about trophies...

Is the only way to get DLC weapons in MWR from loot boxes? I know WWII does that as well with variants, but I remember the drop rate for MWR being incredibly stingy with weapons.

I'm seeing myself playing more MWIII multiplayer than Black Ops 6. I'm still trying to get the hang of its gear system and progression. Okay, so the gear substitutes perks in name only. Gloves, boots, helmets. I don't know why, was Sledgehammer trying to make Warzone/MWIII a milsim?

Well, yes and no; you can get the DLC guns via loot boxes, but you can also buy them directly with salvage... which is earned via loot boxes. Problem is, the game is pretty stingy with the salvage as well; I've earned quite a bit of both common and rare boxes, and only ended up with a few hundred; given how most of the DLC guns tend to be the reward for completing collections, and those can cost up to over 10,000 easy...

Yeah, getting the guns is either a test for your patience, your luck, or your bank account.

I've been unimpressed with the BO6 stuff I've seen as someone who played the older games and I genuinely think Black Ops cold war is probably one of the best.

Weapons aren't locked behind loot boxes, just challenges that you can complete in zombies or multiplayer. I still boot up multiplayer matches and gunfight tournaments on cold war to this day and I think the zombies system is just a better system than BO6 because you genuinely have to play more to make your experience better.

I've been hesitant about hopping back into Cold War on my end; mostly because some of the woke crap they've shoved into the game. That said, I also heard that the game had a hacker problem now? Also, the SBMM.

Honestly, how is the game doing these days?

I just kinda look past the woke shit, and I haven't run into any hackers personally, but the SBMM more often then not puts you in a lobby with someone who definitely plays this EVERY day. The orange numbered level 2500 is a dead giveaway you're probably about to get shit on by a team of sweats.

I usually stick to zombies, and when I play the multiplayer I just attempt to have fun where possible. I've started running around multiplayer lobbies with a scythe as a secondary and I'll try to get a few kills in matches. Doesn't get as stale when you're just trying to fuck around

Some of the older CoD games have been added to Xbox PC Store. With broken/dead multiplayer (huge missed chance for 360/Xb1 crossplay). Guess that's better than the Steam version that can get you hacked though.

Sorry the video is a bit cringe but I can't find any other info about it

Why the fuck are they like 3x the size of the Steam version? They aren't even on Gamepass, you have to pay for them seperately.

There is only 5 maps because they're all the same nowdays: Tiny, 3 lane maps for ADHD retards who got used to Nuketown and Shipment being the series standard. The maps nowdays feel even smaller thanks to shootdodging(Omnimovement is such a ripoff of Max Payne that I refuse to call it anything else). Honestly, I don't even know why they bother with Sniper Rifles anymore, they haven't been useful for 6 v 6 since MW2019.
I haven't played any CoD since Blops 2 but is the 360 no-scope still a thing these days

I just want a fun campaign. Cold war was fun. Got to the zombie lab thing in BO6 and then for some reason it's making me restart it from the start of the mission. The campaign is so damn boring. I saw there's only a couple more missions. I don't think it can save it for me. I feel like I've been walking around and barely shooting anything most of the campaign. I saw someone say the campaign seems AI written and it really does. Completely soulless. No GWOT vibes at all.

I'm too old and my eyes are too bad for multiplayer. I actually like the accessibility options for making enemies easier to see in campaign. Been wanting that for a while as an option for some of these games nowadays. Enemies blend in so easily to the environments.

I think the last one I really loved was infinite warfare. Felt like a love letter to Halo and Cod. Felt big and like you were in a real giant conflict. Even with the scifi setting. Written by one guy who voiced the MC, clearly a passion project.

Apparently the Warzone addicts are now starting to turn on the game and I predicted this. They say its hackers and yeah sure but you know what I think is killing warzone? The tryhards are utterly sweeping right now. BO6 Warzone was designed to cater to them Raven rushes to nerf ANYTHING not ARs/SMGs/Snipers (even though a handful are good). The games speed and omni movement in bo6 is also annoying as fuck. Warzone 2.0 will always be correct in trying to stem the loadout obsession and kill races but its what warzone pros wanted and we are reaping what they sow.

Did you know they removed EVERYTHING from Warzone 2.0 basically? Cars/Helicopters dont take gasoline anymore, Inventory is gone, Ashika and Vondel are gone, no more backpacks, no more special armor vests. It all stems from an apparent hatred of DMZ that most codtubers made videos seething about where they linked the existence of DMZ as why to Warzone 2.0 sucked so much.
