For Engineers in general, that would be a reasonable salary for an entry level (associate) engineer.
Which makes the cost excuse for H1Bs even more dubious.

Elon could work with the University of Texas for a work program, since it’s literally right there, and get people for less.

So it’s really about captive labor.

Cost is actually a concern as they don't get any of the benefits, which are rather expensive. The company doesn't have to pay towards retirement, healthcare, or social security. The salary may appear reasonable at first but it's actually substantially cheaper than it appears for the company. Then they get all those DEI benefits for having a "diverse workforce" even though its like 95% streetshitters. Not to mention they have absolute control like you mentioned. They can fire them whenever and there's no severance pay. If the jeet complains about things corporate doesn't like to hear about (like working conditions, 80 work weeks, no promotions offered/zero mobility, or that "U" word), then the jeet gets their contract terminated and a portal opens beneath their feet, teleporting them back to Bangladesh.

The tech faggots haven't made the connection that 95% of the work gets done by the two dozen non-jeets they still have on staff. Even the ones that have figured out they're literal retards assume they can play some "infinite monkeys with typewriters scheme". It sounds like the first step is abolish or drastically reduce the role of these HR departments. I talked to someone working in a tech company who says they're not allowed to directly recruit talented people they know of in their field, like 10 years ago they could but policies changed and now all new hires must come from HR. The hiring process should be driven by engineers who actually understand the work with HR as a rubber stamp at most.

The competent adults that worked a few seasons of farm labor (as a kid) are not going to have farm laborer jobs as adults. They will be doing every other type of job in the economy. The few seasons as farm labor gives them the very bottom entry-level skills.

To say that farm labor is an undesirable job only meant for children is ironically to ignore it's value and toil. It may be a simple job but it is very physically demanding and I don't think children would be able to utilize the tools required as effectively as adults

It is not some kind of mandatory enforced labor camp. It is a narrow exemption from labor laws with the goal of teaching entry-level skills to kids, getting them outside in nature, and helping the food system be more community based.

What if the kids don't want to spend all day picking crops in the summer heat? I think a lot of kids would rather be playing sports or spending the day at the pool.

You realize that the U.S. thrived for decades without slews of child labor or illegal immigrants? During the time the U.S. economy became the strongest in the world and the country itself became the hyperpower it is today.
