Live updates: Brush fire burns in Pacific Palisades as Santa Ana winds blast Southern California - Live video at link

Sand isn't as effective at putting out a fire, it basically requires that you completely cover the fire and suffocate it (probably near impossible to do with air drops). Water is great because it actively takes energy away from the fire.
Problem - this is the rainy season. Being a La Nina year we aren't getting the rain. No rain expected down there, or at our location, for at least a week. This is not good at all. Then once fire is put out, the destruction of ground cover means mudslides when the rains return, Fucked, no?

This is fucking horrifying. No words.

So if trumps telling the truth, this governor motherfucker diverts all the water to a fucking endagnered fish and Ukraine and that's the main reason for it getting this bad?

FUCKING KEK! Like at this point if you even THINK about voting for newsom in ANYTHING ever again, you should longer be considered human. That is a level of stupid even animals don't achieve.

This man literally said and showed your life and property are worth less than a dying fish and some slavs. kek.

I will never understand who sold these idiots, that they needed to stop clearing the brush out in the forests for the environment.
Sure its great for forests to regenerate... by causing fires.
But I mean the downside is you burn your whole fucking town down.
The Sierra club and environmentalist groups like them.

Cats panting like that is a really bad thing. I'm a grown man but if someone brought me my cat out of a fire like that alive I'd be crying like a baby too.
I was also worried about the cat panting, but apparently he's okay:
About five minutes later the firefighter handed the man his pet and he fell to his knees cradling the animal - who was panting.

After cooling Cheetah off with a plate of water brought over by a neighbor, Vaizman took the cat to an emergency veterinarian center.

Cheetah appears to be doing well and is headed back for a check up on Tuesday. Vaizman shared a video of the cat scooping out the damage to their home on Instagram.

Oh man, why does anyone with money want to live there? Insanity.
A beautiful mansion within walking distance of the beach, or their own private beach. A short drive to the greatest restaurants in Los Angeles, shopping at Rodeo, and their job in Westwood/Santa Monica/West Los Angeles (Financial Center). They can drive down Hollywood BLVD within 20 minutes, or take an Uber to one of the clubs there. Chateau Marmont? Beverly Hills Hotel? Spitting distance.

There's also the movie and recording studios that were built on the west side after the corpos did a hostile takeover of Hollywood 50 years ago and sold off all the Backlot space in Hollywood/Burbank to build apartments.
You can go from Malibu to work in Westwood, and then eat dinner somewhere in Santa Monica and never see the poors, unless you go to the public beach areas (which you don't because you go to a beach the poors aren't allowed to be at, and cannot park anywhere near. And also, because places like Santa Monica pier have become tourist traps to keep the poors away from the other areas complete with chinese old people gangs doing caligraphy art of your name next to black teenagers selling weed at 5 bucks a joint in a little plastic bag.)

I can't blame people for being like "poor rich faggot, so sad."
But at the same time, Poor or rich, you're still talking about Californian. :smug:
Within that moniker is a ton of subgroups, and most of them end up being cringe worthy. Think about the last time California was seen as cool? Yeah it was cool then. We're still here, we're just surrounded by immigrants, homeless people, tourists, wannabees, has-beens, and those who never became anything.
The whole mythos of California was people thinking they're special because celebrities and wealthy people lived here, and so people got a sort of self-absorbed thing going on, because they were going to make it in whatever business they came here to be a part of. Look thats "Musso and Frank's!" What a famous place there is no real reason to eat at in this millenia!
It's different when you grow up here, and you know it inside out. I assume people in Las Vegas are similar. When you see the guts first, the beauty isn't really there.
The Palisades set found a way to make themselves comfortable in a place that was built to be 1950s suburbs for white well to dos.
The original Los Angeles was the north side is residential, and the central part is where you have warehouses, manufacturing, processing. Stuff like Farmer John's sausages, and import/export operations. Places where things were put on pallets and sent out to the "business center" which used to be Downtown.
Los Angeles mutated from that, and all of the core business that defined that layout was moved elsewhere. The new plan for Los Angeles is to turn it into New York City, but even bigger. The exact opposite of why people wanted to be here and not New York, Boston, or Philadelphia. Any of the old cities built for carriages with tiny blocks.

TL;DR: The rich built a "West Los Angeles" to be away from the poors, and Malibu is the most west of the poors.

I guess if a fire had to happen it’s better if it happened in LA but the anti-social retard posts about how it’s good for society to fall apart and fail to maintain itself are really predictable now.

Not only will society never collapse society is the only thing keeping antisocial retards alive.
Los Angeles isn't that bad of a city, it has its place in American culture and history, same with New York. Even San Diego I have a soft spot for, and they literally border Mexico lol.

The real bad cities are San Francisco and Portland, though. Those two are utterly irredeemable.

I'm optimistic things are gonna be fine where I'm at. But yeah, you the air quality is getting bad.

I'm concerned but I don't think my town will turn into an inferno lol.

If the fire swoops through, I'll try to snap a few pictures before I die with my boots on. My animals are my whole life, people are gonna have to drag me away kicking and screaming before I evacuate. If they die, I'll die with them. :story:
It might feel a little gay but consider putting on a n95 mask if you have any leftover from the coof era when you go outside. Lung damage from smoke isn't something to fuck with.
