CISSP isn't hacking nor is it strictly about logical controls; it pretty much dictates you're a security expert in multiple fields, to include bollard placement, fence height, mantraps, and all other sorts of stuff. I'm not gonna say it's easy, because it's not, and ISC2 does what they can to try and keep it on a pedestal as opposed to other certificates; but if you have enough time and aren't a complete retard, you can get the CISSP. You don't get a CISSP to hack, you get it to be solidly in Management or as a "The Guy" in a Contractor/Solutions company. If he had a CISSP, he could be making $200,000/year with a mostly work from home position, while he takes paid for flights out to work sites from time to time, with room, board, and per diem. Instead, he lies, and freaks the fuck out, because even if he had a CISSP, it'd be wasted on him.

Nothing you said was wrong though(well, every pentester I personally know at a firm/org has earned it). But, I would state having earned the cert that it definitely bolsters your competency with the entire field and is a massive buff to any programming-pentester. IMO, Maldy already broke the ISC2 code of ethics when he flamed the Mr.Robot production(at least two of them). He had no standing in the issue whatsoever, and the show made more people interested in the field(net positive).

He started appearing on my socials, during the period of when I started to take practice exams; that was also when I started to turn my head a little at his videos because some of his information was just, wrong. Stuff that you could easily look up and correct yourself on. Pentesting isn't my thing(come from a malware analysis background) but I could immediately tell his demeanor was that one guy everyone disliked in undergrad who had to get his word in. Maldy would never be able to know if X.500 is synonymous with LDAP or RDN, what to do if a WAN is suffering from broadcast storms(and what layer the device is needed on), or calculate ALE on the spot or under duress. He's the type who'd get mad or intimidated by getting told he's wrong and would need to study more.
