Perhaps 2-bit CGA is more your speed.
There's a certain aesthetic to well-done 2-bit CGA that modern graphics just fail to capture. The Eternal Castle Remastered is a good example of this. Game looks amazing. The-Eternal-Castle-Remastered-Header-1280x720.jpg

there's nothing i love more than russian's love of 80s/90s tech. its like how they modded Fallout 2 into an MMO. more people played the South Park PC game than fallout 2 in the west, but russians love fallout 2 so much they keep modding it to this day and have made a half dozen knock offs. they kept the soul of late 90s obnoxious PC games with extremely out there ideas alive.

Russians are the final form of what a techno NEET would be in the west if they didn't succumb to employment or HRT. Just uncountable hours of pure autism poured into potato technology. It's glorious.

Honestly it feels like there should be a film from it. Like space cowboys but instead of hiring ancient people to fix some old computer stuff they have to hire Russian dirt bag zoomers.
Something like a class trip to a space station goes wrong and the zoomers have to save the station and survive by themselves?

Reactions: Brain Problems
I feel like companies claim issues are resolved more or less at random to the point there is no reason to be interested what they say anymore

Maybe they did solve it, there is just no connection between that and what they choose to say

You asked about a hypothetical situation where no improvements in rendering technology or asset fidelity had been made in 14 years, and settings were identical between the two games. Since this isn't reality, the frame rate at 16K can only be compared in your imagination. I'm sure the imaginary version of 2042 runs at 30 fps.
It wasn't a hypothetical question. You already conceded new games look no better than their decade old predecessors ("because they target old hardware" was your excuse).
Please stop simping for terrible optimization and modern developers.
