AI-made art can already follow the 6 fundamentals of good art -- anatomy, perspective, form, lighting, color, and composition -- even though with error to a varying degree. Of course there is still much room for improvement, but there is already been significant improvement since AI-generated art got big in 2022. No wonder AI-made art can make the average Redditor REE: it's competition to insufferable drama-causing human artists... and it's available for free. So they're adamant that it's "soulless" and the like.

This isn't Art but I found this Robert Miles AI safety guy through an animations channel he narrates (and I don't think animated cuz the origina videos have some thick accented guy talking about being a weaboo). The rational animations channel is interesting because it tells a lot of cool metaphors that are ultimately just AI scary, but I've kinda been diving into this group of AI safety people and it's sorta interesting.

The way they talk about it is almost like if you know people who have become doomers about global warming, but the global warming alarmism they are into isn't main stream or funded by anyone. They like vastly over estimate impacts and the importance of what they are doing to be special.

Structurally I think the Rational animator (and looking now it's actually a big channel run by like 10 people) and this Robert Miles guy are really into this Eliezer Yudkowsky neck beard. Then Eliezer switched from writing about studying the blade and being ugly to writing about aliens and AI which got them into the kurtzegart algorithm to get that German propaganda Gibs.

Oh yeah, and people against AI art may also claim AI-made art is "soulless" and "lacks creativity" because AI art was "never made by a human who suffered and lived life" or some such platitudes. As if art always magically needs natural intelligence to impart "soul" to it. Despite such claims, I have seen AI art which is pretty good and lacking major errors, can still convey a mood to the viewer, and can be pretty unique or at least a unique combination. Or in other words, the viewer can still see "soulful" in it.

I imagine a typical Redditor could like AI-made art, and say it is "soulful" and the like... until he finds out it's really AI-made. Then he goes all Butlerian Jihad on it.

It is soulless.

Much of the time AI art is "soulless" to the viewer, but I don't think that's always so.

Also, if the atheists are right and there's no magical ghost animating a living body, then making art is ultimately a mechanistic process which could be entirely replicated by machine someday. On the other hand, if a person really is a magical ghost animating some body, it could very well be that making art would never be perfectly replicated.

UwU think of the poor artists who for thousands of years have existed in a protective bubble under the guise of "human culture", now having to face what every other job has: Cheaper pajeet labor and modern tools nullifying most of their hard-earned skills. Regardless, they added sound "emojis" to Discord and look how nobody uses them. These features won't be used by anyone. They literally had a storefront closed down cause nobody used them. They should stop adding retarded features and just churn out some actual good borders and profile designs for Nitro and they'd actually make more money.
