I've only seen a review of The Witness by some pretentious YouTube channel a few years ago. So correct me if I am wrong, but aren't these puzzles logic puzzles? With rules you have to follow? It doesn't look like he was methodically solving it at the start of that clip, just kind of floundering. I thought he was a big fan of MSPaint, so why didn't he doodle out the puzzle and try to understand it? That way so he could show to his chat his problem solving skills and help dispel any myths of cheating? It does seem highly likely that he looked it up on his phone in the bathroom, but he could have at least tried to explain it better to hide it. From his viral clips, bad MSPaint diagrams seems like the natural way he explains things he understands (or misunderstands). If he had a real eureka moment away from the screen, you would have thought he would be keen to share it.
i think that particular puzzle's rules are: purple stars need to be isolated into pairs, and the yellow shapes have to be able to be arranged where they fit.

you can solve this puzzle in more than 1 way and im sure it's the same for other puzzles across the game, idk if his comment at the end meant you couldn't solve it another way.
beginning of his stream it sounded like he was trying to convey he's doing a blind playthrough, skipping along the video, he clearly has spoiled it for himself on top of obviously looking up puzzle rules instead of working through previous puzzle rules to figure out current/future ones.
at one point ( 01:20:16, in the reflection in the floor ) he dismisses a side puzzle while basically staring at it and reading his chat calling him a fucking retard, it's crazy he's made it this far posing as a braniac puzzle solver.

That'd be like working as a line cook in a restaurant, quitting to go be a discord janny, and still claiming to be a chef.
Except the line cook would still know how to cook.

This is what I found by googling "the witness steam guide", in said steam guide.

It doesn't mean much given anyone else could have come up with the same solution, but it's ridiculous after Jason flundered about for minutes until he came out with the same solution right after a bathroom break.

Insane behaviour.

I can't wait to see the integral vod of the puzzle rush in the future. (12 hours of fumbling like a retard)

Thanks, with the puzzle rules explained it's really simple to understand how to solve it. Obviously, you'd need to work these out going in mostly blind to the game, which is where the fun is. Which is why I am confused he didn't crack out MSPaint like you did to crunch through his reasoning for his viewers. To me that'd show someone solving a puzzle, rather than just going straight to a solution. I thought the joy in puzzle games was in the puzzle solving.

Okay, I haven't been keeping up with this thread for a few weeks and just managed to read through the last 20 pages.
I'm not even gonna go back to his "debunking video", which is on the level of YandereDev mentality.
Holy shit, I can't handle him just straight up banning his own fan for disagreeing with him on the SKG matter. And he didn't even hear the guy out. Mald just heard "I think your take is wrong" and just straight up deleted the dude.
I can't wait for the moment where his fanbase notices the pattern and turns on him.

No silly, the joy is being able to trick people into thinking you're a super genius that's better than them by cheating at the puzzles for e-clout.

Chud Logic's feature on Jason's attempt at adressing accusations.

The video is ok, but what I'd really like to see is a Mald vs. Mald video, where they take shit like the nepotism explanations by him and put them side by side so people see how much the guy constantly lies and changes his story.

With Mald playing The Witness, I figured this would be a good chance to go back to one of my favourite playthroughs of the game to do a brief comparison in mindset between someone with talent and one without.

To give a little background on this streamer, Simon, he is a several time world champion crossword and sudoku competitor, and a master at deduction and problem solving, which shows in his gameplay. It's also worth noting, this is most likely his first first-person game he's played, and this is the first livestream he has ever done, and had no idea how it worked until that point. At one point, he even states with surprise "Oh, people seem to be giving me money". I'd recommend watching just for those reasons alone; it's captivating to see his reactions to the little things we disregard.

The difference in how he approaches puzzles compared to Jason is night and day. Where Jason sees a competition to prove you're the cleverest boy in all the land, Simon sees a work of art that only reveals itself to those who can solve it. Throughout the stream, Simon makes his thought process clear and always assumes the solution is simple, often apologizing for not being able to solve it.

The best example of this is at the 15:30 mark. For those who aren't familiar with the game, this puzzle isn't intended to be solved at this point, and tries to show you that there are times you should learn more before returning to previous areas. Simon manages to complete this puzzle with only his intuition, an incredibly impressive feat, apologizes for taking so long, then discovers the tutorial directly behind him, and learns that the game will teach him the rules first in the future. Compare that to Mald's clips of him going on break before solving a puzzle in The Witness after trying to brute force it, or boasting about solving any incredibly obtuse puzzle in Animal Well with suspiciously no experimentation or mistakes, and the difference is obvious: Jason finishes puzzles, Simon solves puzzles.

I'm tempted to do direct side by side clip comparisons between Jason and Simon, but I'm not making any promises because, frankly, I don't know how much Mald I can stomach.

Hilarious video showing this
alright I hate to play the Blow defense force, but the way they edited this docu made EVERYONE in it look terrible. what he was saying had nothing to do with soulja boy, they just cut the footage in to make it look like that. that said, "waah my game didn't get the exact 10/10s i wanted" still doesn't sound great.

Him thinking the first "real" puzzle was meant to be easy and apologising for taking so long on it while not even having being taught the rules is precious.

Edit: The ferret isn't dead (yet)

@everyone This sweet old man currently known as Jack came in last night on emergency from our good rescue friend Bambi's Roses (this is who Kitty is from!) Jack had been picked up by a kind lady approximately a week ago from another private home and was doing well, but yesterday his blood sugar crashed through the floor and she reached out to Bambi's Roses who is close by. They came down to us as he was having hypoglycemic seizures with a blood glucose reading of 36 (the normal range for ferrets is 90-150) We stabilized him upon arrival and brought his blood glucose back up to an acceptable level. He is currently very stable and will be getting a full work up tomorrow with our vet. Jacks age is unknown but approximately 7 or 8 years old based on his teeth. The private owner who picked him up opted to surrender him to us so he can get appropriate care for his underlying health concerns.

Judging by the announcement, Jack is in stable condition after having low blood sugar and is not dead.

At least I’ll say this one probably won’t be the ferret fuckers fault since the ferret came in in bad shape
Still, it probably won't help the ferret all that much aside from having its current, pressing conditioned triaged.
