Monster Hunter Wilds

Will you play it at launch?

I've completed the SINGLE fishing and SINGLE endemic life quest lines. Makes me remember even Rise had those rare big monsters spawn outside the game area you had to take pictures of. Even without an apartment to decorate that game had soul. Palico and dog customizing. I've unlocked everything for my Palico in Wilds and yet it just feels.. meh. It's something everyone will unlock. My companion isn't unique. 2 of the 4 seikret armors are actual dogshit and can't be tinted.

I'm at rank 50 and I don't know what to do. I need to get higher rank, I assume, to unlock hunter symbol III, which is what I need for rarity 8 armor. So what do I do? Repeat old tempered hunts to grind ranks? I'd rather hunt tempered monsters as they appear but that costs points so it's not sustainable. In this open world game.

You can start getting those from HR 41.

You need to do, tempered Apexes(Rey dau, Jin dahad, fire octopus thing, water fish thing) or Arkveld/Gore Magala.
Just spam SOS quest for those targets if you don't have them.

Anyways the game is unfinished and I'm not talking about the technical, when it comes to content the game is not there at all, end game is endless Arkveld grind since he's the only thing worth fighting for decorations/artian because his parts are worth more than anything else for melding, even more than Gore Magala and tempered Gore is the only hard monster in the game.

One mistake they did is being able to see gold crowns before you kill the monster because it takes away from the grind, it is better in a lazy way disguised as qol but it incentivizes not fighting the monster in a game where you're supposed to fight monsters. Killing something before you try to get a bigger or smaller version over and over is still killing a monster which is playing the game; however, resetting the zone until you make one to spawn is not.
Completionfag achievement chasers may like it because they can 100% the game in 40 hours or so but it massively diminishes the one grind that was not monster materials or decoration gambling that also promoted fighting variety in the roster.

Now if you just want to get the gold crows without grinding just teleport to the arena every time there's a new monster > Binoculars > not a crown > fly away and kill another 3 or 4 Arkvelds in 30 mins > repeat.

Look here look listen, in the end Capcom is still a shit company not much different from Konami, both autism for MH and Tsujimoto's nepotism influence shielded the series from the share holders demands until now but that's over, I'm not getting into it though is just sad.

At the risk of sounding unwarrently dickish, it took DD2 to make you realize that?
In my Steam library, I have 3 Capcom games.
RE7 and RE8 which I bought years after release, at a discount and a package deal with both of them. Those games were alright.
DD2 was the only game I bought on release and full price from Capcom.
So, yeah, it took DD2 to realize I'm dealing with japslop.

This, Rise was the first entry where I have to have something else going on in the background while I play, which usually only happens with turn-based jrpgs. The culmination of this is the ridiculous Al-akhta fight, a stupid fucking bug creature that swings giant blocks of wood around, then gets into a giant fucking MECHSUIT for some reason. I never really thought about it but it's such a bizarre fight. It's nonsensical to the point of being thought-terminating. None of it makes any sense except that it was designed to be as colorful as possible. It's like a fucking Salvia trip, not fun.
Like poster said here
Wasn't Al-akhta in MH Generations Ultimate first, though?

Also I can't seem to directly quote/reply to you for some reason. Or to a number of posts in this thread.
As far as I'm aware Al-akhta has only ever been in Generations Ultimate.

I do mirror the sentiment of treating MH like a podcast game. But any sort of game that does not have a focused story, demands absolute concentration or I really want to be immersed by it is a podcast game as far as I'm concerned. My brain can process combat and pay a decent amount of attention to anything I'm listening, but the moment I have to process what I hear and parse dialogue or a narrative beyond "go there and stab shit", it's when a game stops being podcast apt for me. Basically, I don't see what would stop anyone from doing the same with 4Ultimate unless you are in the incredibly high level hunts and even then, in situations where I get myself into shit like that, I just fully drown out the podcast. I blame less the game and more the constant overstimulation that has permeated everything the last few years.

It's sooo obvious that they rushed this game out to meet 4th quarter market expectations. They probably wanted a December release but the studio asked for a extension and Capcom compromised with a 2 month delay. Alpha and Beta armor sets being the exact same visually, Frenzy Mechanic only attached in one map with a limited monster roster who can get infected, the lack of Sharagru Magala in general, some monster AI does not even work in Wounded Hollow arena map, the missing canteen/gathering hub, player houses for endemic display, the very blatant broken skills that should have been QA tested before release, and I could go one with other smaller issues. The end game is just Arkveld slayer simulator which is even worse that base World's end game of Tempered Elder Slayer. It's base Rise all over again, release the game unfinished and then patch in the missing content and call it "Free Title Updates." Basic ass Mitzutsune as a first update, probably was intended for HR content but they had to delay it. If it was Subspecies or a Deviant Mizu it be less obvious.

For all the talk of rise being unfinished, it still had significantly more content at launch than wilds, and launch rise will likely have more content than wilds will have at the end of its title update cycle. And rise had the excuse of launching in March 2021, so you can imagine how development might have been impacted.

When you compare the amount of time between Iceborne's final title update releasing and base rise releasing to sunbreak's final title update and base wilds releasing, it's obvious that wilds WAS delayed, potentially by up to a year. Despite that, it has dramatically less content than a game that had its entire development turned on its head in 2019 (rise originally had classic monster hunter zones, the connected maps were added after the success of world) and then was developed all throughout 2020 with seemingly no delays.

Do you have to be autistic to like this game?
Yes
actual good games like Elden Ring
Lol. Lmao even.

"Guys this game where you just run around killing the same shit over and over with clunky controls is bad, unlike this other game where all you do is kill the same shit over and over again with clunky controls"

So in the end, Monster Hunter wilds got the same treatment as dragon's dogma 2 (both being rushed to shit)?

What on earth is going on at CRAPcom?

This weapon design made me so hype when I saw it as a kid, too bad I sucked with the great sword as a kid so my effort making it was wasted.
Effort learning something is not wasted. How are you with a GS now?

Yeah that's Crapcom alright, they generate goodwill only to lose it and then repeat. I'd argue that's it less "rushed" (though it is) since its been in development for at least 6-7 years and more the RE engine + the wrong people working on it.

You know what, fair. Would recommend older Capcom games since they just don't make them like they used to.
It's still wild (hah) that it barely lost players on steam alone, 700,000 players just today from the peak count of 1m+. It's been 9 days so I'd imagine most people plowed through the game by now given how braindead it is, and the lack of content from what you're saying really boggles the mind as to why and how so many people are playing it. Hell, you'd think there would be even less people due to the horrific performance, in this age of "if it drops down by 5 FPS it's dogshit" no less.

I get the feeling that some of you just hate fun. The game is fun, horror of horrors.
THE
lengthy cutscene
GAME
7 minute long cinematic moviegame exposition corridor
IS
annoying brown child and stronk butch womyn shoved in your face
FUN
90 seconds of hunt for every 30 minutes of cutscene, walk n talks, dialogue, etc, against a pitiable punching bag that can't fight back
CHUD!

There are a fair amount of valid criticisims in the thread, but yes there is one or two drooling retards seething at over every minor detail they can find and it isn't limited just to ITT, Monster hunter fanbase is always like this. It's always reductive, and it always happens after every new MH game, even if it's later considered to be good, they pretend it was actually always good, despite you knowing for a fact they relentessly shit on the title for a year +.

Even in this thread, actually you see a lot, comparatively, of Rise dickriding especially since it used to be almost verboten to give it ANY positive praise, despite all the controversies and issues and constant complaints it had (region locked MP, cash store weapon skins, sunbreak investigation system, wirebugs, palamute, The rampage, enemy hp too low, the stupid birds, too easy, charms, dango, eastern theme...) but it's no longer the shiny new title to hate on, so it's all forgiven and forgotten and it's actually not a bad game and you can finally say positive things about it. It's a pattern I have seen for every MH generation, and as always it's full of "no true scotsmans/back in my days".
Not that I completely hate Rise, but it's a particular recent example you can see if you stuck your nose into any of the MH community, you'll see plenty of it about World too. (God help you if you do).

A perfect example, really. since Worlds story was a fucking slog to get through with forced exploratory walk abouts and go to y zone, go to x zone's and pitifully short hunts to boot, ugly women, the zorah magdaros sections which were basically 15-20 minute unskippable cutscenes, the guiding lands progress walls encouraging you to go gather for hours on end, and plenty of cutscenes nobody gave a fuck about, and yet is now held highly in the regards of a lot of people despite it sharing a lot of the self-same issues, because a lot of people entered the game post-end game content cycle releases for base world or iceborne.

World was fucking ass too, wilds is just worse.
