Weight loss support thread

I don't weigh myself at all, I just judge how fat I am based upon how well my belt or clothing fit and whether I look in the mirror and think "Oh wow you're fat" or not.

Down to 158 (started at 200), mom is worried that I'm losing too much weight. Going to cut to 150.

I really regret not weight training, I'm extremely frail now... It's still better than being fat though.
Weight loss almost always seems correlated with muscle loss unfortunately.

I've reached the conclusion that you should shoot to be however strong you need to be to function. Being stronger is cool and all, but I'm willing to put my money on the idea that in the context of long term functionality you're going to be better off maintaining a lower weight even if it means sacrificing some musculature.

Most people aren't employed as viking berserkers where being more jacked increases their productivity and effectiveness, and even if someone isn't fat, muscle mass is still mass the body has to maintain either way.

Was 250 at the start of this year, my goal is to get down to 200. Been going to the doctor to get some advice on why it's so hard for me to drop weight even with the diet changes (I barely eat 1200 calories a day) and the changes in my routine. I run 3 times a week, for an hour each time and plan on building up my endurance to go longer, but I've only lost 5 pounds in 3 months. I know it's not too terrible, but I feel like I should be dropping more. It might be because of PCOS, but Im still happy I lost 5 pounds period.

They say to up your protein with PCOS because of the insulin resistance. But also if you're not tracking your calories, start doing it, you may be eating more than you think. Also weigh your food, you can get a cheap scale at Walmart or Amazon. Cardio doesn't burn as many calories as you think.

Ive been keeping consistent track of my calories, but im definitely going to up my protein and maybe change some other things withmy diet to see if that helps. I have an appointment my doctor next month and will ask about seeing a nutritionalist if the adjustments don't help out.

Anyone can be certified as a nutritionist, you'll want a dietitian, they went to actual college and have a degree. Good luck!

Kinda angry at myself for drinking a lot of wine this past weekend. I need to stop it completely. I will tell myself I’ll only drink one or two glasses but will have at least a bottle. My friends all drink a lot so it’s difficult being around them without a drink. Ugh. It always makes me feel crummy and kinda depressed the next day too. Any advice for that? I‘m hoping it hasn’t done too much damage for the weight loss.

252. Now down 20 pounds since mid November.

Substitute it for something with less calories.

Honestly easiest way to not do that is just dont buy it. Cant eat/drink what isnt in your house.

bottle of wine is like 750 calories. Unless you're a hardened drunk and drinking a couple every day you've got bigger fish to fry. Nobody really thinks of getting a single meal at 1K calories like a greasy burger and fry lunch as that big of a setback so don't do that with a bottle of wine.

if you're building muscle, here's my go-to recipe:
rice (basmati or jasmine), goat cheese, three to four over-easy eggs (minimize egg whites they look like snot and you only need the part with the baby bird! put it upside down so it seeps into the cheese and rice), meatballs (substitute with chicken if you want lean protein). in that order. hot sauce . it's pretty good, but not healthy at all!.

I've hit a plateau on Semiglutide (Wegovy/Ozempic) at 0.75mg/week -- I'm down 30 pounds but have steadfastly refused to drop any further -- and was going to switch to tirzepatide, but the nurse convinced me to go with 1.0mg of Semiglutide instead. I guess switching to Tirzepatide causes a few weeks where it's not working at all, and according to her 0.75mg isn't a big dose, as many of her clients are up to 2.0mg/week or so.

My problem is I don't use food just for fuel, I also use it recreationally. GLP-1 blockers don't solve for that problem (other than making you violently ill if you overeat).

You'd probably see better results adding a low dose of tirzepatide (or even better, retatrutide) alongside the semaglutide.

I've only used reta, which is still in clinical trials, so can't personally speak to sema/tirz. I found that even very low doses, 0.1 mg/day, entirely suppressed any desire I had for recreational eating. For reference, the starting dose in the trials was 2 mg/week, so I was taking just over 1/3 of that. I'm not sure if the lack of desire for recreational eating was a GLP-1 thing (meaning you'd also get it from sema/tirz) a GIP thing (meaning you'd also get it with tirz) or a glucagon thing (meaning it would be specific to reta)

Also, its not exactly true that tirzepatide takes weeks to work. It'll start having some effect as soon as you take it. But drugs(at least ones with longer half lives) take multiple doses to reach a stable serum concentration. In the case of tirzepatide, 5 day half half. It takes a drug 5 half lives of repeated dosing to reach a stable level, so 25 days. Semaglutides half life is 7 days, so it'll take 35 days to stabilize at your increased dose.

One more thing, you mentioned a nurse... If you're getting this shit through a doctor, for your sake, I sure hope its covered by insurance, or you're at least using a compounded version, rather than the goofy ass fischer-price auto-injectors that cost like ten times as much. If you're paying out of pocket, you're much better off getting your GLP-1s from an Underground Lab

True, thanks. I do also like hard seltzer so might drink that next time.

The local quick care advertises Sema/Trizep shots. They're not covered by insurance. $50 a week right now, at 1.0 mg/week of sema. the 2.5mg of Trizep (lowest they offer) was $50 a week.

I haven't hit the nootropics/peptides/whatever level of just buying my own drugs off an Indian market (especially since the Wegovy company went after them and made it harder to find). I wouldn't even know where to find one. If I was going to go all homebrew biohacking, there's that banned European fertilizer additive that causes your cell's ADP system to malfunction. Makes you burn infinite amounts of fat at the cost of your body temperature going up and up constantly. Apparently if you aim it right it works amazing, if you don't, you'll cook to death in an ice bath hoping the drug wears off in time.

Hey farmers working on weight loss, just want to give you all encouragement. Stay the course, be consistent in your lifestyle changes, don't be too hard on yourselves when you make mistakes, and have faith in yourselves that you will reach your goals. However you get there, get there and then don't go back. It's worth the costs.

I got recommended this video, so more than likely other people may have seen his as well.

I know you guys aren't going to try David Goggins workout (or you can, but I believe it's unnecessary unless you want to be a genetic specimen) but I wanted to give some advice to anyone who is interested in working out or trying cardio based workouts.

  • Don't try to run 12 miles without any preparation. If you are overweight and never was an active person, attempting to run 12 miles is retarded and you are more than likely going to injure yourself.
  • Wear comfortable clothes and shoes
  • STRETCHING IS KEY. If you don't stretch before running, you're going to hurt yourself while running
  • If you are in pain from working out, TAKE TIME OFF. DO NOT CONTINUE EXCERISING IF YOU ARE INJURED. I know it's a meme to go to the gym seven days a week and workout for a few hours, but come on. We are realistic, and we are working out to help ourselves, not hurt ourselves.
  • Allow your body to recover so you can have better progress rather than limited progress
  • Don't live in LA

Has anyone done Slimming World? It’s a British weight loss organisation. I’m kinda thinking of joining. They do in-person support groups but I would probably do it myself online with the app. I like the idea of not having to weigh foods or count calories traditionally, it seems easier to follow. It focuses on healthy eating and “free foods” you don’t have to count, like most fruit and vegetables. I’m already eating a ton of fruit instead of binging on crisps like before.

I didn't weigh myself at the start of my diet in case it hurt my motivation. I weighed for the first time on March 1st and won't again until May. I don't know how much I've lost but I took measurements at the beginning and have lost some inches.

I've been watching results videos on youtube and it seems like it takes 3-4 months to begin to see any changes so everyone keep at it.

I've not tried WW or Slimming World but I hate counting calories too! I weighed everything for the 1st week or 2 to get a feel for what's what and now I just estimate my calories, much easier. As a rule of thumb I halve my meals and replace the lost volume with fruit and vegetables so I never have any room left for dessert.

Last night however I got carried away with my workout and burned a lot of extra calories, so I blended up some frozen pineapple and raspberries with Greek yogurt for a low calorie treat.

Ah yeah my left buttock is in agony from hill walking and of course like always I just kept at it. Times are such that I can barely stand straight. I guess I'll capitulate and call the ortho doctor tomorrow to see what can be done since 4-5 days of rest aren't working.

Down 7-8 lbs in 6 weeks on tirzepatide, just increased dose to 5 mg yesterday. I have my husband keeping track of my weekly weigh ins 'cause I just don't want to know how big I am. I still see myself as the 98 lb college student I once was many many years ago.

lol are there really people trying to randomly run almost a half marathon? Unless youre in shape just running a single mile is going to be a massive undertaking.

Stay the course, be consistent in your lifestyle changes
Really the biggest thing. Biggest obstacle to weight loss is it takes longer to lose weight than it does to gain it, and the more weight you lose the slower it generally goes.
