I do think Drexel cares about Kayla, and I agree Drexel probably does want the trad life he shits on (but his belief system is that it's just not possible), but I don't think the way Kayla was being treated by Nick is the primary reason. I think Drexel cares way more about Nick's children in this scenario, and the way Nick was propping up April bothered him more since he knows Kayla, but he doesn't know who this 4/10 Minnesota slag is. 75/25 of his reasoning being Nick's children and Kayla.

Drexel was considered by Nick's parents to be their "black son", while he consider(ed) himself Nick's brother, and he was effectively considered an uncle by Nick's children. Nick has shown himself throughout the entire fiasco to be a liar. The chances that Nick's children have been giving Drexel information is almost 100%. And I bet the information he's been given by the children, and the story Nick has been telling don't match up at all. He has no reason to believe Nick, but I bet he's more willing to listen to children who he effectively treats as his own family.

I'd rather deal with someone like Drexel than someone like Nick. Drexel seems like even though he probably has a code that is, in some ways, really fucking stupid, he actually has one, and has been fairly consistent, like his willingness to not suffer bullshit. Nick's idea of language is that it means whatever he wants it to mean to himself specifically, and his standards are whatever is most convenient to himself, and they will change on a dime, but you won't know and you aren't allowed to call it out, because "you're not entitled to that information." You can't have a conversation with someone who intentionally refuses to define words because he wants them to mean anything or nothing depending on what he wants to do. You can't have a conversation with a guy who denies things we know for a fact he's said because he was stupid enough to literally record himself say them ("I never said Jesus was just some guy"), unless you can literally prove it right at that second, in which case "Oh well I was right though". And if you're stupid enough to tell him about any vulnerability you have, he'll lash out at you and try to weaponize it, like a fucking woman would.

You can't trust Nick with personal information which is really funny and weird for a fucking attorney to be incapable of doing, and you can't expect anything he says at any given moment to be true unless you know specifically how to ask him a specific question (that he'll likely refuse to answer but pretend he did answer because he loves to be "technically not lying" when you know he's being misleading), because he intentionally hooks onto people (on average) not knowing how to ask very specific questions with specific words to avoid the other person being a fucking snake, when he's not literally snaking every single person who has ever tried defending him (which just so happens to happen after they decide they're done trying to defend him--the timing is just "coincidental", and his "loyalty" has nothing to do with how much someone is willing to defend him after the Cokestream /sneed).
