The very basics don't take too long to get down, and the only tutorial you really need won't slow you down with the tranny shit. DM me sometime if you want some help. I like to teach.

Personally I don't think it's that important in the very beginning to be fussing about your special inputs. Your normals (every day punches and kicks) are far more important in general for keeping your opponent out of the air, spacing them out, mashing on them, and so on. More than that, I wouldn't stress about beginning with 'Ryu' or whoever your game's supposed 'beginner' character is. Go with who you think is the coolest and pick them up. Learning the 'beginner' character isn't going to help you when you need to learn all the unique stuff about the one you want to play.

Plus, your character doesn't play in a vacuum; how you play your character and the strategies they apply is going to vary based on the character you're fighting, and the guy you like might have totally different tools to do this than the 'Ryu' (they might even have tools he doesn't, or lack some that he does). Maybe anti airing (an incredibly important thing to learn early on) with the character you like is totally different than how the beginner character wants to do it, and when you transition over to who you want to play you find yourself struggling with the 'basic' thing you think you learned on the 'beginner' guy.

Not to nitpick you (I'm using it to support an earlier point of mine, not to correct you), but Bridget is from much earlier than Strive. Just goes to show trannies didn't give a shit about the series until it was decided Bridget was trans. Sure, there were oldheads within the scene that would go on to visit the chop shop who were already in the scene when troonism came along, but it's undeniable that Strive Bridget brought along more tourists than it otherwise would have.

I think he is, yeah. He's kind of a giant nerd, and, while he has artists today that do their own work within his series, in the early days he did everything from draw, perform the music (at least most parts of it; I'm not sure if he ever did percussion), and even the spritework. Way back when he did most everything except for programming. I don't think he's necessarily catering to trannies because he's into that shit, but I do find it annoying that more and more his work leans into it (it's especially annoying that this is at the expense of existing characters instead of just making new ones). It doesn't help that he was (if I recall right) the one who started the whole 'Testament has ascended gender' meme that the tranny crowd naturally appropriated.

It seems he had high passion going in, and now that GG is big, he's getting caught up in the hype and wanting to give the "fans" what they want too much instead of telling the original story he planned out, the thing people originally liked about the series.

I disagree i get pick whos the coolest cause i did it but i think i should of gone with more balanced characters instead of rushing into le mindless rush. what would happen if a new player picks a character like chun li or dhalsim without having a good rival,trainer, or video how will the new player know about footsies and zoning and whiff punish. theres an even more extreme niche cases with zangief or jamie beginners unless they just play modern controls

Literally just pick the character you like, and then just buttonmash with your friends. Have a laugh and drink fizzy drinks, like we all used to when we were kids. That's the only proper way to actually play fighting games. All this autistic shit about tiers and frames and all that gay tourneyfaggot shite nobody normal actually cares about is fucking cancer. I'd be very down to do +R with kiwis, i firmly believe it's the greatest fighter of all time, but I have barely played it in the past like, 2 years. The only community i was aware of for the longest time was the shitty +R discord, realizing how much of a fag everyone in there was really fizzled out my interest to play much for a while. I'd love an excuse to play more and shake off the rust.

I'm gonna agree to disagree about who to pick, but I love these games so much that I could talk for hours on end about them lmao. One of my favorite things about playing them was watching newer players (like @Catboy Ranch Dressing ) learn those things they never thought they'd be able to do. While I'm not an amazing player myself, I love seeing other people get better.

I feel you there. That server is rough, and the dudes that run it are tyrants. For such a massive server (relatively speaking) you'd expect the whip to get cracked over any political/sexual speak, but it turns out you're allowed to do it all you want as long as it's the right kind. Plus a good majority of the players in there don't even play; they just go there to shitpost with one another and talk about porn/Trumpler.

+R is also my favorite of the three main games.
