Undertale

  • 🐕 I am attempting to get the site runnning as fast as possible. If you are experiencing slow page load times, please report it.
I still don't like noelle because she has that annoying "so hecking awkward and stuttery!!1!" character archetype, so does ralsei. They might have backstories but their personalities seem very one-dimensional and cliche to me.
I really hate the stuttering trope, no one talks like that irl unless they have a speech impediment.
Noelle's character is completely undermined that she doesn't have much of a personality other than lusting after susie. She's just the smart girl. Nothing else.

One thing I rarely see people talk about is how fucked up the main cast of Deltarune is.
  • Kris
    • Real parents are nowhere to be found
    • Foster parents are divorced
    • Clearly envies his brother since Asriel is pretty much just a better version of him
    • Has no friends at the start of the game
    • And that's not even getting into him being posessed and everything
  • Noelle
    • Father is sick
    • Mother is presumably quite tough on her
    • Sister is missing(?) due to a thing that still haunts her
  • Susie
    • Not much is revealed about her, but the game alludes to her having a bad home life
That's just off the top of my head. Kris in particular is basically school shooter material, Noelle is a close second, and we don't really know much about Susie so far.
How's Toby going to resolve this in further chapters?
I think Noelle's dad is gonna die before the end of the series. Also the game heavily implies her mom is the mayor. I also follow the theory that nothing really happened to December and she's just off at college. December might just be a bully or something.

Forgot to put this in my post but I am so fucking sick of this awful character archetype.
Fanart has to go a long way to undo all of the garbage surrounding her.
Then again, fan content supplementing the base game is a FNAF and UNDERTALE classic.

I'll laugh if Toby ends up using beta Noelle's design for Dess.

Her mom is the mayor and whatever happened to December might be what caused Asgore to resign from the police and get divorced.

UT's clock app or whatever it's called mentioned that Rudy died.

If Deltarune is just a parallel to Undertale then instead of Asriel dying it was Noelle's sister who died.

I have a feeling that Noelle's character is going to really come into its own during these next few chapters. Her writing in the normal route is so cliche and forced with Susie compared to the much darker and more well-written tones during Snowgrave. To me, it means that the real writing and character development in this game will be snowgrave and normal will not be the true ending. I mean, just look at the weirdness you have to do to get the ring in Snowgrave - you have to make Noelle uncomfortable in front of the shopkeeper by saying you're "more than friends" along with general weirdness about sex and crushes in the writing. If I am right, then all the cringeworthy dialogue and extremely forced shipping and romance is leading to a complete 180 in the upcoming chapters. If I'm wrong, then Toby is a huge tumblr faggot after all and has lost all of his writing ability, but I personally really doubt that.

I'm torn though; Undertale had incredible writing and atmosphere when it wanted to (True Lab) along with absolutely skin-tearingly cringe ships (Undyne and Alphys date), so really who knows.

>Getting into a relationship with Noelle so that Kris can fuck the queer out of her Dussy and realize she was meant for BKC, cucking Susie out of carpet munching in the process (also make Kris stop having delusions of being "non-binary".)
What did Tobias Foxwell mean by this?

You're being very unrealistic, even in the snowgrave route there's a special interaction between noelle and susie (I think they kiss?), it's an intended ship. I don't like the all the copium around the shipping ITT.

What would happen if she ended with Asriel instead and Kris got Kucked?

Kriss is very much a guy and has a thing for the dinosaur bully, seeing he has drawing books about dragons feeling "sticky". Worse, these are from the local library, as the town apparently lacks porn mags (not that Kris would we able to buy them) or easy access to Internet.

Dragon book is Asriel's it's overdue for over seven years at the library.

Susie hopes she'll never meet him since she saw his internet history.

Eh, I doubt we'll get much of Noelle in the next few chapters unless her mom is revealed or her dad dies. Think anything with Noelle that isn't just surface level of "I had the most amazing dream yesterday!" just won't happen.
Chapter 3 is theorized to be Toriel and Undyne, though I follow the theory that it could be Napstablook and Hapstablook since it's a tv world and Napstablook is a cop.
Chapter 4 is definitely going to be Catti and Jockington from the screenshots.
Even if it does turn out to be Toriel and Undyne, I think we'll see more development for Hapstablook than Noelle, especially since at the end of chapter 2 when you're talking to him in the ghost house, he asks you to meet him again tomorrow about music, and seems to be wanting to become Mettaton.

Edit: Btw Nintendo apparently posted this screenshot and if you look on the left and right, it's got Tenna's full design.

So...thoughts on if the neutral ending will have any value for Deltarune, or will it just be neutered pacifist like chapter 1 and 2?

I really don't like the recruit system works. It basically means you can't fight at all anymore. Even Pokemon let you recruit mons you previously defeated.

The actual RPG gameplay of deltarune is pretty dogshit outside of the secret bosses, it's been ridiculously easy so far with no real strategy or mind games, and the whole spare/fight mechanic is completely pointless

Undertale was supposed to be a deconstruction of RPGs instead of actually being one, no? This and Toby Fox's focus has clearly always been character writing, not gameplay. I'm not surprised gameplay elements would be half-baked.

Still absolute horseshit you can't run away from battles like you could in Undertale, idk why Toby thought getting rid of an essential mechanic to RPGs like that was anywhere close to "good thinking".

That was undertale, not deltarune

I'm guessing that's because since there isn't any actual incentive or reward for fighting enemies (from what I remember), you could just skip through all of them (but couldn't you also do that in undertale?)

Looks like we're getting another newsletter in a few days.

It's out. (A)

Most of the world will get the game on June 4th.
For starters, the Nintendo Switch 2 version of DELTARUNE will launch on June 5 at midnight local time in each respective region. Technically speaking, this means people in Japan will get the Switch 2 version 13 hours sooner than people in the East Coast of the United States. Assuming they can get a Switch 2 at launch.

However, what does that mean for all the other platforms? We decided to pick a time as the official launch time for everything else (Steam, Switch, PS4, and PS5). And that time is...

JUNE 5th, 00:00AM Japan time!

What that means is that if you're in North America, for example… The game will release on Steam, Switch, PS4, and PS5...

  • JUNE 4th, 8AM PDT!
  • JUNE 4th, 11AM EDT!
  • JUNE 4th, 5PM CET!

An alternate ending to the Spamton Sweepstakes was released. This includes a page (A) and a video (A)

The Deltarune website was updated with 14 secret pages. Here are the links

im worried the replay value of the finished full game will be dogshit because its gonna be a massive slog to get thru it several times for this exact reason. at least undertale was short
guess i dont really care because im gonna give it one playthrough on release and then just stick around for the datamining
