I don't think it's peculiar. Not nefarious either. The issue is pretty straightforward for the county attorney. Once released, it cannot be unreleased. It can't clawed back. If the MN appeals and/or supreme court rule that the government shouldn't have released it, they have no liability if they stop it from being released now If the courts rule it should be released, then it's just time and still no liability. Nulls actual attorney costs are small compared to a Rekieta lawsuit for damages.

No need to expose the taxpayers to unnecessary risk that Nick would prevail.. There's zero downside to opposing release and lots of upside. An appellate court will ultimately have to be the ones to absolve the taxpayers of liability by ruling Null has a right to the bodycam. Prosecutor can't do that.

It will be peculiar if appeals court orders them to release it and they still refuse. But that's a future date.

TLDR: This short 2-hour stream went live at about 12:40 AM CT, hours after the court ended, to make up for a now-deleted stream in which Nick abruptly left due to an urgent phone call and (supposedly ) dropping off a child at an activity. He addressed the bodycam issue and Null. Chats were being deleted from the Rumble chat. He dragged Null and Kurt relentlessly. A child showed up to have his homework checked, much to Nick's annoyance. After a long nap on Thursday, he was very peppy. (I have heard that his uncle is ill, fwiw.)

I doubt it. Destroying official footage is kind of a big deal.

And even if you fear no judge and don’t give a shit about your job, it’s not that easy. It’s not like you can just throw a VHS tape on to the fireplace, digital files are very easy to recover, are kept in multiple locations including server farms online.

But AFAIK, an administrative judge told them to release it, and some corrupt local prosecutor said “Noooo! We must protect our county from the eeeevil kiwifarms!” And had a local judge sign an order?

And that’s being appealed, right?

I reckon it’ll be released eventually. There have been plenty of cases where cops and prosecutors tried to protect bad apples by not releasing footage, and it always ends up getting out.
