The Tumblr Files - Official Thread (Case I: Steven Universe) - An exposé on the media and people that destroyed the Internet

What happened, exactly? Was it basically what the bronies did back in the 2010's with "insert ponies into everything" - only Tobias Fux did it with his IP instead? If that was his case, good.
It's time for a rude awakening for that faggot to show not everyone likes his "lmao xdddd" ideas.
Yeah, that's pretty much exactly what happened. Fangamer, whose connections to Toby were revealed earlier in this thread, decided to cash in on a remake/remaster/rape of 2008's OFF, a good, if French, indie RPG Maker game well loved by the scene long before Undertale ruined the genre. Much like a certain tribe, Fangamer nepotistically brought their old friend Toby do the music for it because OFF's original and actually talented composer Alias Conrad Coldwood was against it.

The demo for this new OFF remake came out and people heard Dedan's new theme. Here's the xeet and accompanying video that set off twitter and reddit, get an earful of what the average Toby Fox fan sounds like:

I never understood what people liked about Toby or how he got this cult of personality without seemingly having a personality in the first place. All the success he enjoyed came from knowing people and greasing palms, and what little of his games he actually makes himself is mediocre. But maybe that's why all the fifteen-year-old, lanky theater kids idolize and project onto him: because he was nothing special just like them, but somehow made it. It's the same reason black kids have hero worship for sound cloud rappers instead of people with real talent. He's just another nigger from the hood.

His "personality" was that dog and being tongue and cheek with his fandom. To people who followed him since his Homestuck days it's probably nothing new to them but when Undertale came out like the posts said, people on tumblr most likely had no idea who this man is but what matter was that he was just like them.

I mean you say that but there are people out there who hate some sc rappers that get big simply because they get big, talent or no talent they are mad they aren't stuck in the ghetto like they are. I wouldn't be surpised if Toby has haters that are like that too,

To append a happy epilogue to Case III, today on Preddit and the Xitter, people finally pushed back when it was revealed one of the ballads of gay Toby, "Bonetrousle" from Undertale, was needlessly and hideously inserted over Dedan's theme in the OFF remake by the fagtastic Mr. Fox himself, yet another one of his heckin' ebin musical easter eggs. Because Papyrus, the quirky and valid skeleton from Undertale who loves spaghetti and being lolsorandum, was based on Dedan, you see.

OFF fans and anyone with sense hated it and called Toby an egotistical asshat, with quite a bit of general support. Undertale/Deltatroon's many grooming victims have rushed to his aid, but they have no good arguments and are really only reminding everyone to hate them.

This doesn't bode well for the next two chapters of his lesbian high school romance game set to release soon.
You think Toby might patch it out due to the backlash? The comments on the upload seem to tell a different story.

Pretty much, but instead of Soundcloud, it's a combination of Earthbound fans, Homestuck fans, competitive Smash Bros players, YouTubers, Artist Twitter, and so on. People idolize Toby because he's "one of them." A representative of "the people", as it were.

A tranny faggot with a literal dog fetish and is also autistic (got groomed award) that draws zoophile porn of a dog with chest scars, is going over about how heckin valid it is.
All the while, a sane, tf2 fan who has probably been on the internet for long enough to be tired of all this tranny faggot shit, vents out his displeasure, as he watches another one of his favorite games get ruined by faggots.
Its almost like a classical painting.

I've looked at the comments, sorting by new, and it seems to me just as divided as everywhere else on the matter. I think, to people on the outside looking in, it's more bad optics for UT/DR fans. The kids in Toby's defense force are making themselves pretty obvious, having probably not heard of OFF until their e-dad stepped on people's toes over it today, but now it's reflecting on him personally.

I think the smart thing to do would be for Toby to apologize and patch it out, but will he? I don't know. I don't know him. It'll be worse if he doesn't. Either way, his prospects won't get better. There's a big vibe shift going on and I don't suspect Toby Fox and co. are going to make the cut. How the new Deltarune chapters do critically will be the best barometer, and that ties in to the subject of the whole thread with regards to tumblr subculture contaminating the outside world.

The way I see it, the following scenario will play out: Toby's fans, which consist of all the groups I stated earlier, will play DR Ch. 3 & 4 and love them. This doesn't change the fact that at this point those fans exist in what is essentially their own bubble.

Part of the issue is that an Undertale-level game has yet to be made that captures the newly forming counter-zeitgeist in quite the same way. It's the same problem with how stagnant Hollywood and TV animation is; No one wants to make that cultural touchstone that signifies the vibe shift. We don't have that "thing" for people like you to rally around. As of right now, the zeitgeist is only visible through general discussion and through its effects on politics.

I think it's because alot people don't know how to make one. There is a counter-zeitgeist yeah but it's not that big and the gayified Tumblr atmosphere Undertale was made in is still there, it's just slightly subdued. You have to do a lot of finessing within those circles to gain the clout then you have to make the game. Plus you have to make it good and not just right-wing slop. It's alot work to ask for one person that I'm not surprised people take the easier route to pander towards progressives/shitlibs, make your bag and dip.

This. You have no idea how many people mess up this part, specifically.
It's not just that Lefties are creatively bankrupt, it's that we seem to have two whole generations who have no idea what to do to create good, compelling entertainment, and the veterans that knew what they were doing have been retiring or dying in droves.

And what's more, it's true of the right as well. They're only slightly better, seeing as many of them are conscious of what leftie media gets wrong, but they still fall into the same pitfalls as woke media, because they, just like the wokists, have a chip on their shoulder rather than a desire to create something good.

Even Matt Walsh pointed this out, it still did not stop the Daily Wire from fucking up on a lot of their content.

How would such game work? One where the current society is seen as allegedly free and progressive, but everyone in power are hideous deviants and some literal demon-worshippers, and the solution is to return to more traditional times? So, something like a more hardcore Mother 3?

Subtext is the key. The game itself can be about whatever you want but preferably a setting, tone and themes you haven't seen in a while. Of course, your a creative first in this case, so you genuinely have to be interested in the world you're trying to develop which is what Undertale got right. If you think in terms of "I have to avoid this left wing shit" or "I gotta add right wing values the chuds will love" you're on your way to making something that's just ok at best. Hell, it doesn't even have to be an RPG, it can be a wacky sports game, silly novelty or crafting sim (Schedule 1). If we're still talking Undertale, alot of the shit that game ushered in were novel to alot of people, including myself. 10 years later, even the meme of "quirky Earthbound inspired game that's about depression"™ has gotten tired.

edit: I swear to god I was going somewhere with this post. But in my world, a game like that would pretty unhinged.

Yeah, that's my point. No matter their political angle, way too many people in entertainment don't really know what they're doing. The key to making a politically-charged work that actually sticks is to make it good first, and if your politics get in the way of a good product then I'm sorry but the politics have got to go. Take the OG Star Wars for example: a plucky band of rebels fighting to topple an empire of goose-stepping assholes in snappy uniforms has layers of political context you could explore, but it would have all been for naught if the movies weren't good to begin with. And no matter how good the movies were, it would all fall apart anyway if instead of "may the Force be with you" they said "workers of the galaxy, unite!".

Sure, but to be anti-Undertale, you must have some sort of political subtext to point out as being flawed, or otherwise you can't do it, and I was wondering how would you do that. Mother 3 criticized Nazism, conformism, consumerism and "Return to monkey" hyper-traditionalists.
