But we already have precedent rulings and case law for other industries saying that you cannot sell a service or product and then just disable that product or announce the service is now gone and you have to sign up for service 2: return of service. And as you've seen yourself, that existing case law didn't just carry over to video games.

I feel like if EU comity decides to discuss the potential regulation, they will keep in mind that devs can try to weasel out of it that way. Both USB-C connector requirement and replaceable battery requirement laws have been constructed with that in mind. EU has better track record when it comes to technology regulations than I expected of them.

I don't doubt that maybe Jason would perhaps think quitting would take heat off of him if the whole SWATing thing is true. It would make sense. But I also can see that Jason would have easily stuck in his trench ferret hole for as long as he could. I still think the SWATing thing is a false oh woe is me scenario but seeing his discord people say that they never busted in, I think I could believe at least that form.
