Super Chix is terrible. They had three locations within a 15 miles radius of me and they all closed down within 4 years. DSP and his wife are going to love it though. Overly seasoned, overpriced slop with a ton of random condiments to give it the robustness and tanginess they crave.
Re: fighting game prowess. Both LTG and DSP could be good at fighting games if they’d get over themselves. They both whine about flowchart players and network latency. The first… well… if you know the string, interrupt it? If you guys are so good at the games you play, shouldn’t be too difficult. Latency? More difficult to diagnose, but it seems very uncommon that latency is a huge factor in their gameplay. Sometimes a valid complaint, more than often it’s just another excuse.
I play a lot of CvS2. It’s one of my favorite games of all time and is in heavy rotation in my Viewlix cabinets at home. It’s also a very unbalanced game. It has tons of flaws with character and frame balance. A lot of the characters are borderline useless, like Kyosuke. Phil likes to play difficult “grooves”, like P-groove, because it gives him yet another built in excuse when he loses a match. P is very difficult to play. You parry by moving into the attacks. If successful, you negate the attack and can recoup a small bit of health. The timing is very tight, and since you’re actively moving into the attack, if you whiff it, you’re taking damage.
Alternatively, Phil could play K-groove if he really wanted. K has a “just defend” mechanic which allows you to negate damage like P, but instead of moving into the attack, you’re blocking against it. Much safer, and better compliments the chargeback characters he likes to play anyway. He’s too good for C or N grooves because that’s what newbies play.
Phil won’t attend any local tournaments because his excuses won’t work. Latency? Not an issue when you’re playing locally. Character and groove selection? That’s 100% on you. You’re going to see a lot of Sagat and Blanka play and they’re going to destroy you. This goes for any game he plays though, not just CvS2.
If he’d drop the ego, he’d have the chance to be good. Maybe better. Never understood the mindset of these guys who talk shit about newbie button mashers pushing their shit in, but play better versus “good” players. Clearly not, we all saw the 0-10 versus Justin Wong, one of the best Street Fighter players in history. Take your Ls like a man, you whiny faggot, and get better at the games you waste your life away playing.
