Steven Universe - Now a Griefing Thread

I've honestly had enough of the show. It's not terrible. It's not even really that bad. Parts of it are even pretty good for a kid's show. But the waves of tumblr autism it has generated have damaged things beyond repair. It's best to put it down. The salt will be entertaining and then tumblr will latch onto something else as is the way of things. And life will go on. And maybe, if time is kind, one day the show will even be fondly remembered as just a decent show and not a festering cesspool of genderspecial cringe. But that's being pretty generous.

So much autism in comments.

I frankly wouldn't be surprised, Steven Universe grabed my attention with its general premise (Crystal Gems fighting Homeworld Gems) but I got really tired of that, instead of getting the plot continuitation, we get random episode about X or Y. I really couldn't care less about Steven's sudden uncle's appereance or Lapis going emo for hundred times.

Just continue the fucking story.

The next episode's been leaked and the plot of it is just "Steven wanders around and does nothing then finds out he would have been named Nora if he was a girl."

Isn't SU an abject failure in terms of ratings? I'm not surprised if it gets killed, tbh
Like the video stated, seasons 1-3 held consistent ratings (which I understand as being good enough to renew for five seasons) but the fourth season has had declining ratings. That video makes a lot of sense, that the continuity between episodes makes it more difficult for newer viewers to pick up the show and start watching it, and that as the show's gone on themes have gotten more mature compared to the start.

It also brought up the topic of all the leaks, which the Crewniverse themselves have stated if there's anything leaked it's done on purpose. I'm fully expecting the latest Steven Bomb to be leaked before it airs, just like the entirety of the last one was, and it's especially curious with those leaks because those episodes have the logo and everything, they're completely prepped for airing. What I think about the leaks is that it's someone or a group in the Crewniverse who're dissatisfied with Cartoon Network's treatment of the show. I think what also contributes to the issues with season 4's declining ratings is the fact that it has the most irregular airing schedule possible. Going like 3 months with radio silence and then airing a week of new episodes followed by more radio silence until the next announcement for new episodes is a really weird thing to do. It also increases the potential amount of fan dropoff that can occur, I know a few people who've stopped watching SU altogether because of the inconsistent releases for new episodes.

Summer's on the horizon though, and I feel like they'll do another "Summer of Steven" this year like they did last year.

If I remember right, the show got five seasons ordered way back when it was actually good. So I'm expecting it'll limp along until those run out, but not get renewed after unless season 5 really hits it out of the park.

pretty awful character designs

What's even happening anymore. When there's no plot going on it's as boring as tar and when there is plot going on we get gross blocky abominations like this.
