The full sized one. I put it next to my actual VB and it is a pretty nice reproduction. One thing I did not do was check to see if the new stand works with the original system. It looked and felt about right.

If it does work, that is awesome. My VB stand has the dreaded fracture and cannot be used anymore. Replacement stands often go for more than the cost of the 100 dollar shell that I bought.

My optimistic hope is for the VB controller to get a release like the other systems. It is so unique and represents a really neat slice of history. Dual D-pads, dudes.
Do you have the OLED Switch? I'm curious about how the blacks look using an OLED Switch in the stand vs the actual Virtual Boy. The deep blacks are the thing I always remember standing out about VB the few times I played it.

I will test it out for you.

Using the S1 requires a (included) bracket to be replaced. Will see how that is as well.

We've already moved on to a new console generation and people are still concern trolling about Nintendo Classics being 'future proofed.'

The service is here to stay, getting updated all the time, and titles are NEVER getting delisted.

This is the definitive way to play retro Nintendo games, better than any emulator because you are not required to illegally download ROMs off of the internet.
8 years later there's still no Zoda's Revenge, a first party game wuth zero licensing issues. Definitive my ass.

Every now and again I remember "hey, they released this the other year, I should check it out" Maybe it's Super Mario RPG, maybe it's the Paper Mario TTYD remaster, maybe it's Link's Awakening remaster. I'll go to the eshop and... it's 50 fucking quid.

It's completely bizarre. They released a bunch of AA remaster games to pad out the game catalog and then price them as if they were an ultra AAA first party that was released this week.

Mario Odyssey is nearly ten years old and still priced like it's this Summer's big blockbuster hit.

I know this is just Nintendo in general and it's only a matter until they create a fucking Nintendo Credit Card controller, but these faggots deserve to be cremated alive.

I'm 100% convinced that anything Nintendo 1st party related will never have a "proper" price drop. Either Nintendo are a bunch of greedy fucks, or they just hate their userbase that much. I've seen so many sale news announcements on my Switch that I just completely ignore them, because I know well in advance that it's always going to be $5-$10 drop only. $39.99 is the lowest I've ever seen these games go. I think the Mario Rabbits shooting game was the only thing nintendo related I saw that had a massive price drop, but otherwise these games are NEVER going near that "$20 or below" line.

They're not called the Disney of gaming for nothing.

They know the value of their output, that b is whyvthey don't drop prices. And people still buy them too. Its frustrating but thats why I usually buy used.

If retards would stop buying at these ridiculous prices, they'd go down. Blame consoymers.

This. It's precisely the same reason why Disney keeps making those horrible live-action remakes:
The Lion King remake premiered in Hollywood on July 9, 2019, and was theatrically released in the United States on July 19, 2019, in the Dolby Cinema, RealD 3D and IMAX formats. It has grossed over $1.6 billion worldwide during its theatrical run, overtaking Frozen to become the highest-grossing animated film of all time. It also became the seventh-highest-grossing film of all time and the second-highest-grossing film of 2019.
Aladdin was theatrically released in the United States on May 24, 2019. It grossed over $1 billion worldwide, making it the ninth highest-grossing film of 2019.
The Beauty and the Beast remake grossed over $1.2 billion worldwide, becoming the highest-grossing live-action musical film, making it the second-highest-grossing film of 2017 (after Star Wars: The Last Jedi), and the tenth-highest-grossing film of all time.
Lilo and Stitch (2025) grossed $1.038 billion, becoming the fourth-highest-grossing film of 2025 and the highest-grossing live-action/animated hybrid in history, being the first of its kind to gross over $1 billion.
Because people keep paying to see them

And yet, people bitch at me for pointing out that buying an visual remaster is gay...And 5 minutes later they're also pissed off at the price tag for the shit that they buy

Experiment is done! Good thing I have a couple NSO accounts.

The OLED model did look better to me, but my eyes aren't as good as they used to be. Your mileage may vary here. The S2 also looked good and so did the S1. OLED is probably the way to go. But we are talking a matter of inches, not miles.

You need to swap out a piece of the VB visor to use S1 systems. This was very easy, just four screws to wrangle.

ALSO! The stand that came with the VB shell works with the original Virtual Boy system. This is great!

Lastly, Nintendo needs to extend the Switch 2 editions of their games to cover VR mode. BOTW looks ROUGH. And the S2 should have no problem running it at a better quality setting.

Switch 2 has garbage motion response, like up there with the PSP bad, and is 1080p, meaning 960x1080 per eye before lens distortion profile, which is lower than the original HTC Vive's per eye resolution of 1080x1200, its the same as the oculus rift DK2. The terrible motion response will make that even worse because of motion blur, which is heavily exacerbated in VR even at 120hz. Switch 1 would be 640x720 per eye for comparison, comparable to the oculus DK1. Essentially what this means is that it will still be pretty terrible on switch 2 and maybe even worse because of the motion blur

Been toying with the idea of picking up a cheap Switch 1. Seeing a lot of secondhand ones floating around and think a lot of people are getting rid of them or have kids who they bought one for but have hardly used it.

Just ensure that it's an older model if you want to mod it. They made it nearly impossible to DIY most Switches. My 2018-era Switch is just collecting dust because it sucks as is and we can't do anything more to it without spending more money.
Nintendo Classics is better than emulation at this point. You don’t need a million different roms and emulators to pay everything. All of it is very streamlined and accessible.
I replayed Twilight Princess with ReShade, an HD retexture, and QoL mods. It was awesome.

Probably won't bother modding it. Probably grab one just if it's a bargain for a handful of games. Although I can just play a lot of it on the Steam Deck.

I'm curious if they're going to totally lose their value due to the Switch 2. Or if they'll regain some value down the road like the 3DS (probably not)

I can't even see any of that sort of detail. :lit:
