GZDoom's -ACKpak has been marked EOL, meaning it is no longer visible on Linux app stores. Given the unpersoning of GZDoom, this is most likely the death nail for the flatpak as UZTroon is attempting to supplant itself as the 'new' GZDoom.

Some of this open-source tomdickery makes me want to clone these projects and label them The Official TrueZDoom or some shit and do literally nothing but clone the repo and replace some variable names with racial slurs.

We all know that Troonworld is full of community projects that get neglected, cancelled or butchered either by the op or someone else who is also as incompetent, if not worse. Usual culprits are the ones who have barely registered, have sense of grandeur or don't plan or think ahead; like if they'll have time to lead a cp or not OR if they have enough experience to do so.
But what about KKKlub? It seems like they can't organize themselves nor prioritize their projects either.

Adventures of Square - Episode 3 still not out yet despite claiming: 'We're really glad that people like the game, and there will be more Square coming up.' This one kind of hurts because the game is quite charming and is incredibly fun, so I was anticipating the finale. Guess that won't happen anytime soon. Last update was June of 2019

Back to Saturn X Episode 3 - For a series that is so beloved and praised in the community, this is kind of surprising for me. Thread started on February 2019 and it's locked due to lack of updates. lol I thought the two episodes were somewhat decent but of course it comes with your typical troon aids (slaughter, convoluted mess of a map design) from time to time, so I personally am not gonna lose sleep over it. It will incorporate the same aids anyways and probably amplify it too.

Supplice - A commercial game by the KKKlub members, released on April 2023 to early access. Before that, it was being developed for 14 years if you check their ea description on their Steam page. I've read the reviews and to the surprise of no one, it has your typical KKKlub aids, like convoluted, soulless map design, boring and repetitive combat scenarios, story in the form of text for you to read which ruins the pacing, soundtrack sounding like it comes from a JRPG game, severe amount of monster closeted traps (usually on item/key/weapon pick ups), lack of communication from the devs on Discord and even Steam and probably more.
14.79 EUR is the price tag. Updates are being made but are quite slow.

My point is, these folks have bitten more than they could chew and this is why they barely get things finished nowadays. I get it, some of them work at TroonDive, others are busy with something else but we all know that they stroke their ego about how important and badass they are and how they represent the Doom community, so I expect them to have better work ethnics and organizational skills. They start too many projects but barely finish any of them. That's why it's so important to focus on one project if you want to get things done. It's a basic mistake that noobs learn from in their journey to manage any kind of projects, so why is it that these 'elite' of the community can't seem to grasp the concept of prioritizing projects? Beats me.

Those three are from the top of my head, maybe you guys know more KKKlub projects that are on hiatus or abandoned completely.

I'm still waiting on Happy Time Circus 3 and that was announced 5 years ago. supposedly this tranny is too in pain or homeless to finish this shit.

Remember when they dropped the 4-map Ep.3 demo in 2023 and esselfartium said the project is coming out in 2024? I guess the plan was for them to hit the 30th anniversary of Doom 2. It makes you wonder, because these people have everything going for them... they have decades of mapping experience, know every trick and quirk in the mapping book, have a huge team of mappers, midi composers and playtesters, but still need to spend 10+ years working on a megawad. That wasn't always the case, though, wasn't it? Skillsaw was able to make two highly polished solo megawads in the span of two years, and the previous BTSX episodes didn't take that long, either. The problem now is their delusion of grandeur that makes them constipated. I remember that imbecile, Nirvana, calling Skillsaw "the triple-A developer of the Doom community" (man, that was fucking cringe) and he then admitted the high expectations towards his projects puts pressure on him to deliver high quality maps. I guess the same goes with the rest of the BSTX cunts. After all, they're all one and the same. They're so stuck up their own asses, believing to be professional developers, that they've turned the simple process of a group of mappers getting together to create a project for fun, into a development hell. The thread is now locked, because they know people will ask questions after they lied to them about the 2024 release.

Begs the question, have there been any good CPs coming out of Troonworld, or indeed anywhere ? It seems the time of the great CP everyone talked about has been dead for a long time now.

Too many gimmicks now. Even something like "In City Only" or "In Rural Only" end up being a mixed bag. Also, the whole "In **** Only" is getting old. Why not just give a cool texture pack to the mappers and tell them to go wild with it? The DBPs also have themes, but no one tells you to do only cities, or only small towns and farms there, right? Even the more restrictive ones, like DBP69 that was supposed to be nukage bases, had some variety.

On the other hand, projects like Community Trunk and Drake O'Brien Ovational Megawad, were too open-ended in their rules, allowing for autistic mappers to create 5-hour long 8k monster abominations that aimed to hijack the whole projects. Sure, the old Community Chests had odd entries too, like The Mucus Flow, and retardations like Citadel at the Edge of Eternity, but generally speaking, 99% of the mappers showed restraint at the time. Now there's no such thing, and it's up to the project leads to put some boundaries to prevent retards of going bananas and making it about themselves with their gigantic unplayable turds.

lmao That is an awful comparison. Triple-A studios have hundreds of employees with different professions. Making megawads is very tame compared to a video game that consists of numerous assets that have to be created from scratch for the most part.

I get that Essel makes music for indie games and Xaser is a TroonDive fag now but I still think it's quite scummy to leave their fans hanging like this.
 
It's a good thing that Ashes After 'x' is such a good WAD series compared to these inanities, and drama-free to boot (or at least that I know of).

The only "open" kerfuffle Ashes ever had was the Usual Suspects starting crying blood when the psionic witch or whatever in Hard Reset had a dialogue image that was deemed "too attractive" (because it had big boobs, because it was too anime, because it was a good-looking woman or a combination of the three) and people cried until it was patched with a uglified version.

Considering the 2-3 dead sideprojects in the Ashes continuity, the peculiarities of some voice actors (one of the female voice actors is/was a fetish/porn amateur voice actress) and how Hard Reset's ending was clearly haphazardly put together there must have been problems in the background,

Who knows.

Because it appears to be used by the same clique that's "in charge" of the modern Quake community. The same few names frequently pop up as both uploaders and in credits of various mods and maps

For instance, Brutalist Jam series co-lead and uploader is Makkon, who's a he/they leftist from San Fran, a 3D/2D artist that works at the studio that made Subnautica.

He creates high quality textures a lot of people use for their maps and is apparently friends with Millenia3d I mentioned earlier, so naturally he must be quite popular in there
