There's just something about modding games from the 1990s that makes you crave cock.

Triple-A studios have hundreds of employees with different professions. Making megawads is very tame compared to a video game that consists of numerous assets that have to be created from scratch for the most part.
No kidding, I've seen that type of shit from ModDB too. Unpaid wads/mods that take forever to make/update because the author wants to impress people so much that sometimes, the end product turns out to be mediocre.Imagine turning what should be just a fun hobby for you, into some high-pressure job that doesn't pay, where you can't do the things you want to do, because you're insecure of what players might say. It's also funny because Skillsaw is clearly unaware of just how little players care about that, and just want to see him make another release... He can do anything he wants, and no one will ever complain or criticize, but in his mind, he always has to deliver big time, like he has a career to maintain. It's weird. Just make wads and have fun, dummy...
A good argument for deadlines. Either you make it to the date or not. No delays, no excuses. No kidding, I've seen that type of shit from ModDB too. Oh ok, that makes more sense. Nirvana should've used a better word to describe Skillsaw's high quality releases, maybe something like: 'You are one of the top wad developers in the community'. That would sound less cringe.I think what Nirvana meant was more like, Skillsaw being this top tier developer of Doom maps, that always delivers the "high budget" polished wads.
It seems like a 'you are your worst critic' issue for him. He worries about the criticism that might or might not happen (which for him is the latter since he's praised endlessly). Like bro you are on the Troonworld, they'll kiss your ass no problem. It's also funny because Skillsaw is clearly unaware of just how little players care about that, and just want to see him make another release... He can do anything he wants, and no one will ever complain or criticize, but in his mind, he always has to deliver big time, like he has a career to maintain. It's weird. Regarding wanting to impress people: That's just perfectionism, which is the enemy of good.
Speaking of DNF I find it amusing that after the 2001 leaks all the fan projects that were very excited about it are also taking forever to release any significant updates. I think it's been a few years at this point. Working for free on a massive project like that is an overwhelming amount of work?! How shocking, who could have seen that coming! To draw a comparison with the actual gaming industry, Duke Nukem Forever was exactly that, and look how it turned out.
Eh, I don't think Mechadon or Cage are really part of that club, and they've released 4 episodes of 6 so far, first one being released in April 2023, latest one in June 2025. Not really comparable to the other examples.Supplice - A commercial game by the KKKlub members,
Glad I didn't bother playing the Brutalist Jam.Because it appears to be used by the same clique that's "in charge" of the modern Quake community. The same few names frequently pop up as both uploaders and in credits of various mods and maps
For instance, Brutalist Jam series co-lead and uploader is Makkon, who's a he/they leftist from San Fran, a 3D/2D artist that works at the studio that made Subnautica.
He creates high quality textures a lot of people use for their maps and is apparently friends with Millenia3d I mentioned earlier, so naturally he must be quite popular in there
Unfortunately, these guys are THE contemporary Quake community. Everything modern Quake offers is made by them and I'm not exaggerating.Glad I didn't bother playing the Brutalist Jam.
But someone who hates these people could always make their own website. Never put them in charge.
Some acclaimed indie games took significantly less time to develop than many doom megawadsNo kidding, I've seen that type of shit from ModDB too. "Speaking from experience".There's just something about modding games from the 1990s that makes you crave cock.
Why do you think I quit modding?"Speaking from experience".
I respect that though honestly, because that's the mindset of an artist. It is a flawed way of thinking in many ways, but it's also the reason the stuff he puts out has such a high ratio of quality to begin with. That's kind of sad. Imagine turning what should be just a fun hobby for you, into some high-pressure job that doesn't pay, where you can't do the things you want to do, because you're insecure of what players might say.
I find it came to me the other way around. There's just something about modding games from the 1990s that makes you crave cock.
Either the people are going to shit on him or take the bait. I bet my $5 that this idiot won't do any work at all. Here we go again... stupidity never ends, it evolves:

Alright, there's some degree of digital onanism, but limited in functional, MBF21 wads in 5 years already have oversaturated Doom community with fairly basic mods and when you want to jump over your head, you have obviously less possibilities with MBF21 than with ZDoom. NT2F alone overshadows many other MBF21 wads, and to create a blade of grass that's higher than it you'll soon appear to be searching for crazy hacks like what vanilla schizos use, like mikoconveyors, voodoo zombies and shityou basically have to be autistic or willing to suck up to powermods to learn how to do the deeper modding like ZScript/DECORATE/ACS
