you are gonna get your shoulders nuked broOHP is not only the coolest looking lift, it's maybe the only one that you don't look like a complete dumbass doing. And for that, I will continue even if I will never rep more than one pl8.
One day you can hit 100 pounds on the overhead press dude. I believe in youit's also a colossal waste of time
people say the same shit about dips and shoulders, deads and your back, cigs and cancer. been doing it all for a while and as long as your form's good and you smoke smooth toasted Luckies, you'll live forever.you are gonna get your shoulders nuked bro
I can do more than that, but that's not the point. One day you can hit 100 pounds on the overhead press dude. I believe in you
1) you can do another exerciseI can do more than that, but that's not the point.
1) It doesn't train the middle delt because it's literally not experiencing any tension. The mid delt doesn't function in that plain of movement. It trains the front delt
2) It puts so much stress on the shoulder hurdle that it's just not worthy, specially with the volume that OHPers tend to do. I get it, you wanna get better at it, you wanna get a higher number, but doing 3 sets at your 90% more than once a month is crazy. Doing 1 set like that once a month is pretty taxing already.
If you like doing the OHP it's fine, I just think it's too little bang for your buck. It's like the deadlift but worse
Are you taking crazy pills or am I? Because I get the impression you're a fan of the soyence.I can do more than that, but that's not the point.

I do 3 sets of 5-7 reps of that, twice a week. It's not a crazy amount of weight but it does get near failure. Though I am still new enough that I still learn new basic information every few weeks.
if you can do another exercise, why do OHP? Am against saying that it is a must do exercise like the squat, bench and deadlift (which they are not btw)1) you can do another exercise
2) I don't do it more than once every 3-4 weeks.
Thanks for the imput
That's called shoulder impingement, this article was already posted but read it.Actually this reminds me. Whenever I do exercises that require moving my arms sideways near or above head-level (like in shoulder raises) I get this really weird unpleasant feeling in my shoulders. Like somethings grinding against something else in there almost. Am I not stretching/warming up enough? Kiwibros plz help.
I'm at a pretty beginner/intermediate level, have been lifting for 6 months with a months intemission at one point, but I've been fairly consistent with it for a while now. Idk if this info is relevant but I felt like it would help.
Because it works my front delts in a way that other exercises don't?if you can do another exercise, why do OHP? Am against saying that it is a must do exercise like the squat, bench and deadlift (which they are not btw)
why train the front delt?!Because it works my front delts in a way that other exercises don't?

you are [taking crazy pills]
again, my point is that they are not worth it since they train front delt (which normally is already over trained), and unless you are a weightlifter or a strong man, it doesn't translate well to other movements
