Aladdin Remake Casting Salt

Apparently he was originally a Chinese Arabican.
The irony of this is that Aladdin and his people weren't even middle easterners or muslim in the 1,001 Nights. They were supposed to be far easterners. Far far away in a distant land and all that.
So basically he was Uyghur, which I don't think Disney would want to cast.

So I was going to quip that people who mindlessly want Indian actors to play the roles in the movie failed a geography class because the setting is Arabian and not Indian. Now it appears their ignorance is more justified than what I thought.
They're still wrong. And so is fucking Disney itself, why didn't they portray Aladdin as a Chinese Arabian in the animated film? Probably China back then too.

I'm guessing the Broadway musical cast is out of the question because they didn't do that for the Beauty and the Beast remake. Which would suck hardest for Jonathan Freeman since he portrayed Jafar in the original movie as well as the musical as the original cast member.

Why the hell are they making a live-action Aladdin remake in the first place?

Even better: Why are they making a live-action Lion King remake? How much of it will be actual live-action as opposed to CGI?

Show of hands: how many of you are not surprised at all by this?
I'm more surprised this movie is a thing at all.
I mean, is not even a Live-Action remake. Whiny bitches who don't liked these original cartoons are just directing their headcanons in order to cram as much fanfic shit as possible until the plots appeal to them, and kids who don't know any better are the market, what's worse, kids that are starting to recognize between better and worse will think this version is better because is more complex
convoluted
regarding to the plot even if emotionally the characters make no sense at all.
But I just saw maleficent, I've heard that Jungle Book and Beauty & the Beast aren't halfway bad if still unnecessary, second opinion please.
But seriously show those teens some Cowboy Bebop/Wander Over Yonder simplicity can be fun too.

Just as I was mentioning animu...

Oh shit I just realized that if Will Smith is the Genie and it's still going to be a musical, he's going to be a rapping genie. And we had a rapping genie in the 90s.

This isn't an Aladdin live-action remake. It's a Kazaam remake disguised as Aladdin.

This trend of "remake the old movies in live action cuz mindless, nostalgic fans will still pay to see them even if they're shit" is getting annoying. Make new shit Disney. Come on.

The reason it's a "live-action" film is because so long as they use some real camera shots, maybe add a human to the opening, and a handful of real antelope, it doesn't matter if the entire major cast is CG; having that "live-action" next to the search results produces more cash than "animated."

Who knew remakes came with a monkey's paw?

Clearly Dev Patel is the only Indian actor in the universe. Lol, these people are asshats. If you want to make it fun and appealing, just hire a Bollywood crew to do the whole fucking thing.

EDIT: Frank Caliendo should be the Genie.

I misread Dev patel as Dave Atel and buddy, I had the single best vision of a Disney movie ever. Just a complete scumbag Aladdin trying to fuck the Princess and make his crabs go away

I wonder if they will look just like the London stage version

I really struggle with the concept of "Let's watch the exact same movie you already love, only done over. Because it's so easy to improve what's already perfect, right?" I'm pretty forgiving toward sequels, at least they try to be something new... but if I like something, then making a copy of it is only going to piss me off. I can go back and watch the original if I want, at least TRY to go somewhere different.

I was actually more interested in the Aladdin sequel that starred Homer Simpson than I am this reshoot.

Saying the original story starred Asians (not the British definition) is irrelevant. This remake is based on Disney's animated film, which was obviously set in a fictionalized Middle East.

I would like it if the SJWs whined about cultural appropriation. Disney is lame and deserves it.

But it is funny when JSWs tard out about it not being authentic.

Aladdin was a Muslim Arab. The story is set in "China" because it's a fairytale. The characters have Arabic names and titles, the citizens of the capital of "China" all pray to Allah, revere the prophet Mohammed, pay in dinars, the princess wears a burqa, the marid obeys Solomon's ring. The villains are the Vizier (you know, the advisor of the Sultan of China), two North African sorcerers and one Jew cheating honest Muslims out of money, as Jews do. No one is Chinese or even Indian.
Aladdin is of the worst stories for the triggereds to cry racism or cultural appropriation about.

Well,we're talking about muslims. They must've been planning to invade China while creating the tale.
