Amazon's Invincible - thoughts?

Well that was mid as fuck. Especially after breaking a planet, this didn’t feel like a finale.
I’m going to dissent and say I really liked how they handled Mark, even the hallucinations as a visual representation of him having panic attacks due to being brutally manhandled multiple times in a row and knowing for a fact nobody could stop Thragg from doing anything he wants. I thought it fit in this medium, and the visual of the screen blurring came together when he saw the real Thragg and didn’t want to believe his fears came true. He finally had to accept that he wasn’t strong enough and concede to the demands.
However, I still fucking hate Eve and anything to do with her or her storyline, it’s just a tumor on the show because she’s an insufferable retard who actively whines about everything and we’re expected to go yass qween.
Thragg is actually, despite the stupid writing for things already covered ITT, a great character whose motivations make perfect sense for the position he’s in and as a Viltrumite. I also think his voice is great, the softness really captures a lot of nuance in his dialogue with Mark where you can tell how sorrowful he is and conflicted he is between revenge and duty.
But again, mid as fuck episode.

Yes, Thragg is the real hero right now. And I say that unironically.

Thaedus really did use Mark, Nolan, and Oliver so he could kill every one of them. He's willing to genocide other genetically similar races just to kill all the Viltrumites. This nigger is fucking insane, and this extends way past muh decency and inherent wrongness of genocide when the method is to just genocide in turn. In spite of how much Thaedus hates Viltrumites, he behaves exactly like a Viltrumite would.

I don't expect the writers of this show to realize that or acknowledge everything Thaedus has done has technically made the Viltrumites worse, every time. Argall's assassination made them even more fanatical towards their ideals and disgusted towards sympathetic traitors, the Scourge Virus ensured no Viltrumite would ever be safe as long as the rest of the Universe didn't fear them, and the Coalition declaring war justified all of their actions made to strengthen themselves in case of an attack.

Mark be like:

Truly exquisite character development. Bravo Kirkman, bravo.

Honestly, going around impregnating hundreds of women by being a thunderchad sounds pretty cool. Like, in a narrative scope. "we'll let them live on earth and have no tell on what they're up to", and then 18 years later there's 100k viltrumites.

All Mark had to do was fucking cock-break and groom his rapist into being a trophy wife. Instead he gets an unstable lard-ass who in the series alone does nothing but create bubbles that people break. She can alter molecules and not once in the whole fucking IP does she use it for anything than revival.

I don't agree, this is the classic "Oh, you want to kill the mass murderer? You are literally one and the same." There's nothing hypocritical about killing a killer, or in this case genociding the genocider. Considering the cosmic scale we're operating on a few casualties are an easily acceptable sacrifice considering the stakes, don't let the perfect be the enemy of good, etc.

The only thing wrong with Thaedus is him being a race traitor, not the methods he plans to use to save the universe from a bunch of genocidal maniacs.

These are also true at the same time.

He doesn't care if the virus ends up spreading to other species. In fact, he expects it to. And it nearly wiped out the Viltrumites the first time. A suped up virus that was already extinctual that could cross-species transmission.

If anyone handling it fucks up, there is no telling what damage it could do. It's already at the capital of a galactic government.

Option 1: Infinite genocide now and for the rest of time with the entire universe in a perpetual state of being crushed under a viltrimute boot.

Option 2: One time genocide with casualties to stop viltrimutes once and for all.

i pick option 1 because viltrumites are cool
and also, this really is all thaedus' fault, you said it yourself

For real though, the morality of it all is largely irrelevant. Governments fight all the time, for one reason or another. I just wanted to point out the hypocrisy, especially with Thaedus being largely responsible for most of it. Good fucking lord. Imagine fucking up that hard for literal centuries.

The Coalition, in spite of everything, still lost. Brutally. Thaedus (Not Show Nolan) as one final self-hating act of utter fucking lunacy blew up his own home planet instead of doing anything of value. This kind of thing needs to be studied.

The sad thing is how irrelevant this is when you take into account all Viltrumites fold to sex with humans.

I stopped reading the comic decades ago, can't even recall where. The last scene I remember is the glownigger man triggering Mark's earbud to fuck with his balance or whatever.

Reading through this thread made me glad I quit while I was ahead, since the whole thing seems to have turned into "the author's barely disguised fetish", which for Kirman is cuckoldry - physical, philosophical and spiritual.

Or maybe it's more correct to say Kirman got big enough, with enough dumbfuck niggercattle consumers that he could come mask off and unleash his masturbatory fantasy upon humanity.

In a way, both Walking Dead and Invincible are the poster children for modern Western creative output, which can be summed up with a single word - nasty. Everything about them is designed to evoke negative emotions, disgust and a prevalent sense of nihilism.

The stories are not designed to be entertaining, they just exist to wallow in the mental excrement of the author, and it's a condemnation of the normie audience that this piece of shit story ever got as popular as it did.

Μy point is that I don't really consider it any more hypocritical than putting a serial killer to the chair. Even with the casualties included.

Okay random observation but didn't Nolan complain that earth was an underdeveloped backwater world? Which is funny if you consider that Viltrumites empty the cargo of their ships with slaves while humans mostly automated such processes with containers a long while ago. Also why do they even have random slaves that don't even have super strength on their own instead of literally anything else, like idk just packing everything in a few giant containers that a single viltrumite can unload in a minute.

How did the viltrumites get government IDs, birth certifcates, residences and jobs without suspicion?
You don't need a job if you can get anything you want by stealing without consequences. Same goes for a residence in a remote location. Government IDs and birth certificates don't really have a purpose if the government's monopoly of force doesn't apply to you, and you can already get anything you want without them.

The issue with Invincible isn’t that it’s capeshit. It’s a smug, embarrassed parody. Its source material is smug as shit about not being like other comics, but that amounts to being sarcastic about cliches.

It’s no Venture Bros. where it actually is a loving parody.
It's also a shit DBZ ripoff.
Look at The Boys.
Lmao have you actually seen The Boys' source material? The show is an improvement and I hate The Boys.
