The decree would've made more sense If it was the other way around and it was imperium vs sphess marines with the plague but that's going into retarded fanfic territory.
But making sure the future of mankind was left to Custodes, who are warp fuckery too but in much more smaller numbers and incorruptible (knock on wood) and how taking out Space Marines as a whole would leave the imperium giga fucked but also more or less fucked the most powerful forces of Chaos too. Considering the Grey Knights also more or less took the wolves' role as executioners considering how much they used to team kill regular people or mindrape marines who knew about Chaos it wouldnt have been that retarded if it was them still.

Wouldn't need to be imperium vs marines, if the decree were to use the bioweapon that would mean chaos' bullshit has gotten so out of control that it's worth sacrificing the loyalist marines as well. If it were just the imperium vs marines, then it would be too easy of a decision to just use the thing. But yes, because xenos also exist then it's not worth using and as such would exist as one of the many "we could use this to save the imperium but the risk is too great" weapons stashed around somewhere. Just the same as Vulkan had the talisman of seven hammers as an emergency self destruct for the golden throne(that would also blow up terra) if it looked like Horus might actually win.

Oh I didn't mean in another fight, just in a "general imperium existing vs the Space Marines existing" i think considering the nids and necrons exist now it wouldn't be that effective but still.

The real reason they added Femstodes is because they're writing out SoS from the faction and don't want to deal with 'GW REMOVES female models from faction' or whatever the fuck.

Femstodes let them have female models and also axe SoS entirely without it 'looking bad'.

Which is a shame, because SoS and SoB are both cool armies with lore the writers never get permission/feel like expanding on.

It's not any deeper than 'make a female model for custodes because we're axing a different female model'

There's been multiple books featuring SoS within the past 6 years or so for both 30k and 40k, including as recently as 6 months ago. What are you talking about? Also including the saturnine trailer, the stupid animation with the femstodes. The fact that there's been more SoS in lore recently than the previous 30 years combined at this point makes the entire thing even more stupid.

Also, varnish. Everything looks like it's covered in oil. Plus, you didn't just grab those from ktdash did you?

As in testor's dullcote? Because they look glossy as fuck. The blue coats especially are so shiny to the point of looking like wet raincoats.
Yea, Testor's dullcote. Brother swore by it on his figs, and again, it's my go to for finish unless I want something other than the usual look.

Tabletop wise, they're basically nixing SoS, right? I thought the revamped Custodes lineup was pointing at eliminating or minimizing them, so figured thats why we got more female Custodes.

Outside the watchers of the throne (honestly very good if a bit weird in the way it covers some events that matter lore wise), a few HH characters (I havent gotten to siege of terra yet) are there any actual SoS focused novels in which they're one of the main characters? I don't just means 'showed up at one point'.

It's similar to how there just aren't very many SoB focused novels outside of a short anthology, the Saint Celestine novel I haven't read yet, and technically I guess one of the coil novels by that guy with the weird name where there's actually a very cool SoB (but those novels are so fucking weird I struggle to consider anything in them 'canon' as far as novels go, lol).

Just gimme more militant religious bitches with bolters or greatswords. It's up there with Guard novels for me.

At the very least the Dark Imperium had a few neat ones and probably the best depiction of a priest going full People's Crusade on Chaos.

I hope they give us more Crime/Horror/Weird Shit novels in the future now that HH is wrapped up. As much as I do enjoy my slog through the HH, I enjoy the weirder one offs like the Ufthak/day of ascension or the bonkers schlock bullshit like Last Chancers.
