Atheism + failed to take off because it was conceived and run by the worse pos in on-line atheism. Anyone who attempted to criticize the hivemind was immediately dogpiled, accused of being a shitlord and hounded out.

Even one of its own founders and promoters got the A+ treatment while trying to prove that A+ wasn't a toxic environment.

So where as those basement dwelling cheeto eating trolls, who just do it to poke fun at feminists made over $12,000 over-night, the true believers in social progress couldn't even get of their arses for the salvation of humanity and raise $2,000 in a week.

Every year the complain about needing money. And every year they get enough cash to pay for the event.

If you check their registration link, they of course offer you the "free/asshole" option. Nobody but the absolute bottom of the bucket cheapskate or college student is going to do that. People are already paying for hotel, airfare, meals and other travel related expenses anyway. Prying open the wallet for 50 more bones isn't that big of a problem.

So their big issue is cash flow. As in having the cash by the time they need to pay it since it all comes via credit card all at once. I have a feeling they are not super big on making sure that all of their income from all their different streams is reported on that progress bar accurately on a daily basis.

Of course they are hiding the guilty number of $50 this year on their registration & pushing the $100 figure.

I went to a skeptics convention once and, honestly, It was fun. Speakers who came in and talked about actual science? Rad. Getting to meet people like Dr. Robert Bakker? Even more rad.

But, christ, I doubt it's fun anymore. Especially if there's workshops on how to run workshops and other silly shit as opposed to amateur paleontology and astronomy.

I am very interested in the circumstances if anyone knows, I couldn't figure it out myself. He hasn't shown up on butterflies and wheels, which is where most of the exiled FTBers go.
