So this year marks the twentieth anniversary of Klonoa: Door to Phantomile. A PS1 2.5d Platformer game starring a young... cat boy and his little blue friend who lives in a magical ring who can grab and inflate enemies and use them as stepping stones to solve platforming challenges.
Klonoa never did reach the heights and popularity of say Mario or Sonic, but he did have a few good games under his belt. The first game in particular has a pretty special place in my heart. The colors that just POP on screen, the beautiful music, and the simple but engaging platforming that actually has a decent difficulty curve.
While the story was never too complex or deep, it did have a lot of heart and the ending kinda stuck with me for a long time.
Fast forward several years and I finally got to play Klonoa 2, a game that I felt was just as good and even better in a lot of ways. The themes and message kinda surprised me and I liked a couple of the new additions to the platforming.
I haven't played the other games, I heard the GBA titles were good, there was something for the Wonderswan and the Wii remake had a terrible English dub.
Beyond that, the series kinda disappeared off the face of the earth for a good while. There was this web comic Namco had running for a while, but it hasn't been updated in years.
Last year however, Henshin inc. announced that they were developing a Klonoa anime film.

Details are sparce, but supposedly it's a brand new story taking place in the same universe as the games.
A piece of concept art for the movie:

As far as I can tell, there is no current release date, and frankly I'm not even sure if this movie will ever see the light of day. But hey, it's nice to dream.

So, anyone here's who's played it, let's reminisce. If you haven't played the games, I highly suggest you try them.
