Megathread Non-binary genders / Enbies - When Male and Female Aren't Special Enough

"you can't have social dysphoria without having gender dysphoria" that is very true. HOWEVER, it does not need a separate term, and I don't even know if it's a real form of gender dysphoria. Social situations that can make you more aware of dysphoria or make it worse? Yes, completely, that can happen. Trans people (real trans people) may feel some sense of distress when misgendered, especially since they're trying to pass. And I can understand some aspects of "gender euphoria" but it's not an opposite to gender dysphoria. It doesn't make your dysphoria go away, it just makes you feel good about yourself.

Gender euphoria isn't really a thing. It does not need a stand alone term, and it absolutely does not have roots in gender dysphoria. It doesn't affect your gender dysphoria. For example, :powerlevel:my partner and I went bowling yesterday, a kid went up to me and was about to ask me something and his mother then said "no i was pointing over there" and the poor kid was like "but you said ask him"- Sure, it made me feel great, but it doesn't prevent any feelings of dysphoria.:powerlevel:
It's like if someone said "I like your hair" or gave you any other compliment. It makes you feel good, but that's kinda it. Maybe I'm a little cynical as people go overboard with gender euphoria, and use it as an excuse to call themselves trans. I believe Milo Stewart was (and maybe still is) very guilty of this. I know she mentioned it in videos, and was using it as a crutch. iirc, she mentioned people gendering her correctly gives her gender euphoria, while mentioning in other videos that the dysphoria she had is now nonexistent. Someone telling you that you're a cute (whatever gender you are), and you feeling good about it does not mean you have dysphoria. Discomfort with the sex characteristics that you have means you have dysphoria.

I feel like most nonbinary people on Tumblr use the social dysphoria one with them being so angry at being misgendered more than body dysmorphia. Maybe I'm wrong but it always seemed to me like they'll make lists of kinds of dysphoria so they can claim they have some version of it. Like I said though, I might be wrong and if I am I'll correct myself.

and everything else in this persons about me just screams tumblr snowflake.

If being non-binary is treated as a third gender that has its own sense of dress and cultural norms and so on, I can almost respect that. But if there's functionally no difference between you and a man or woman, then what does it mean to be non-binary?

This kid with whom I am slightly acquainted irl posted the following recently
Quick reminder that trans men have male bodies, trans women have female bodies and nonbinary people have nonbinary bodies. Hormones and surgery are a personal choice and are not necessary to transition.
I just don't know what world I live in, and what world these people live in.

Non-binary bodies are like goth bodies, nerd bodies, jock bodies, accountant bodies or furry bodies.

They're bodies that happen to house someone who belongs to those groups.

These people are going to feel really fucking stupid when they have medical issues that go untreated because their "I have a nonbinary~ body uwu" nonsense didn't account for the fact that men and women can exhibit different symptoms for the same illness or have different side effects to the same medication.

Good luck explaining to your doctor that you're having a "nonbinary" heart attack.

I once got shit from enbies for refuting a post where the OP had taken a picture of a medical form where they crossed out both male and female and a note for the doctors to deal. I know that trans health is a difficult thing to manage*, but essentially telling someone that may save your life fuck you because they need to know what's happening with your body to treat you is a shitty thing to do.

(*I know people that have refused treatment or prescreening due to dysphoria. Special snowflakes appropriating these people's suffering peeves me so much.)

I saw that post. The one where they scratched out both and wrote genderqueer? I thought one of the reasons they want you to say male or female is so the doctor can diagnose you with female related issues- cervical cancer, etc. or male related ones.

Yeah, that was it. Even if you're MTF or FTM that info is still important since hormones can cause atrophy, cancers, etc.

I seriously hope any doctor who has to deal with genderspecial bullshit like this just goes "I'll just put you down as 'female' since you're acting like a twat."

I really don't get what the big deal is with them putting their birth sex on documents like that. Like doctors could misdiagnose people for god knows what. Hell prescriptions might also get fucked up from it and that could have a really bad effect on the person on them. Surely their own health is more important than getting called "ze" by a medical professional?
