Diseased #Comicsgate - The Culture Wars Hit The Funny Books!

I could keep going; the overwhelming majority of Batman's enemies are either the leaders of wealthy crime syndicates, personally wealthy (in the case of Cobblepot, both), or holders of advanced degrees. And really, are their hearts bleeding for the Tweeds, Waylon, or Solomon Grundy?
They're probably more talking about generic henchmen and muggers in the stories. That's an argument that people use in real life about punishing criminals that are "victims of society" too. Not that many people buy that when it's still wrong to gun down someone because your job fucked you over and you're tight on cash.

I saw this unironically posted today... it's like they never read a Batman comic and mixed him up with Iron Man or some shit.

Dumb, found another one of these:

Except that (AFAIK) Batman these days canonically tends to leave "normal" crime to the GCPD: not that he won't interfere if he sees a mugging in progress, but he prioritizes the criminals that would give conventional law enforcement trouble. But hey, these dipshits clearly don't even know about the Wayne Foundation and its work creating jobs, helping the underprivileged with housing, its various soup kitchens, halfway houses, battered women's shelters, and other charitable work that Batman uses his civilian identity to do (it even has a justification to "hedonistic billionaire playboy Bruce Wayne": tax write-offs), so they've clearly read like three issues of Batman in their whole life.

Nah man they just played the Arkham series. All they know is Batman breaks every mooks leg, even the ones just putting around.

Bruce is the Conservative. Clark Kent was the Liberal. It has long been the contrast between them.

That's pretty true too, I was going more on the fact that both of em are just rich dudes using tools/wits to take out the baddies instead of super powers.

Ah, yes, the old Batman "I just hit this guy with my tank-car, which then blasted him with lightning, but don't worry: it's non-lethal" technology.

Dark Knight Returns with the literal tank version of the Batmobile that shot rubber bullets, yet had a giant fucking cannon on it too that shot real mortars and stuff always made me giggle.

No, that's right and kinda illustrates why I think using the genre as a platform to sperg about politics, at least in the way modern writers do, is a silly idea.

"Batman vs random crooks" is more of a filler plot that works more for his early career before his world got much bigger. His time as Batman would be split up between keeping tabs/dealing with the larger scale threats to Gotham, going across the bay to work with Superman, and everything with the JLA. In a world so grand and with the Wayne Foundation doing what it can, being the Batman to beat up some guy who stole a candy bar with be insanely petty and silly to prioritize.

It's like "Why doesn't Superman beat up Trump dictators and corrupt businessmen/politicians!?". It varies if he did that sort of stuff early in his career (currently canon as I write this) when he's like 21 years old but it doesn't make sense to make those stories set in "Now". He's busy with world ending threats and making sure Earth will make it to the end of the week to deal with any corrupt businessmen who aren't Luthor. He could try to overthrow dictators all day but what good would that do when he's not some political expert who knows exactly how to rebuild a nation? He already has issues with the idea of forcing his will on others and drama in Superman stories is usually centered around him not being able to fix everything.

Edit: First post of page 52. Fitting.

No but for real what is it about memes that the radical left finds so fucking difficult to understand
They want to "educate" and "inform" instead of entertain with their memes. Instead of jokes that are brief and straight to the point, they have lectures that are long and drawn out. They fail at making memes because they don't want to make actual memes.

Victimized working-class people, according to woke niggas:

71Ra8jHnmcL._SY450_.jpg

Oswald C. Cobblepot, member of the New England social class and leader of "The Penguin Mob" criminal syndicate: guilty of, among many other crimes, human trafficking

1280_jack_nicholson_batman.jpg

"Jack White", notorious mass-murderer, domestic terrorist, career criminal, and leader of the "Jokerz" criminal organization; guilty of multiple mass poisoning attempts, infamous for an utter lack of normal criminal motives.

latest

Johnathan Crane, PsyD. Terrorist with little rational motivation for his targets or acts.

latest

Jervis Tetch, PsyD. Serial child molester, guilty of multiple instances of mass druggings. Paranoid schizophrenic with known history of violent relapses.

I know you were contrasting against that idiotic meme and not presenting a definitive take on it, but to sperg a little, I always saw Batman, and his villains, as about insanity. It doesn't require a deep read to see Batman as Bruce Wayne's attempt to enforce control on the chaos of life, while also providing himself with a shell and mask to keep him safe from his own issues with fear and the death of his parents. He's conservative because he has to be, discipline and preparation are the only things that both keep him safe and keep him linked to society. And it's no surprise that most of his villains end up in arkham asylum.

If this is true, it seems Hasbro has had enough of IDW fucking with their brands in the name of Social Justice.

Not to go all Jeremy Hambly but I hope they go after Wizards of the Coast / Magic the Gathering next. It's in dire need of help, like they use to do dumb stuff in the past but it almost always felt like some thought went into it.

Now the actual product is crap, the ideas are finally starting to look somewhat better in the game (after shit was dumb broken for most of this last bit of the standard format) but the whole SocJus scene that descended on the game has made it a huge bummer for me to contemplate.

They legit have people trolling social media / facebook (including private/secret groups) looking for people making edgy jokes and stuff and will ban you from organized play IRL for it and that my friends is goddamn exceptional.

I'm happy to see D&C pulling off what he's doing and dodging most of their bullshit attacks and stuff. We need somebody like him in the MTG community to clean things up.

Wasn't the MTG community caught covering up pedos who were local judges in tournaments or somesuch last year? I remember Unsleeved Media going on a tirade against them after WOTC banned him on the word of a cosplayer.

I wouldn't necessarily say "covering up" but they didn't actually background check anybody and there were indeed a handfull of convicted pedos that were still active judges.

Dude is a dick for sure, but most of the drama stems from a Facebook group Him, The Professor from TCC, Wedge from the Mana Source, Ect were part of and stuff that went on there. So Prof and Wedge pretty much buried him when the cosplayer started talking about how he stalked/harassed her but it was mostly him having just said mean things about her in a handful of live streams he did. So Prof /Wedge/Sprankle all went on the offensive against him at once and got him a lifetime ban for saying mean things on the internet.(She was quitting anyway to go off to nurses school)

I would like to ask you to stick to the topic at hand, there's a dedicated MTG thread in the salt mine subforum, and it has lots of Jeremy stuff.

This also goes for people talking about comics continuity stuff with no real tie to the culture warring aspect of this community.

Thanks all.
