I did a search and couldn't find a topic. Not sure if it's just that nobody cares or if I missed something.

Anyone else a fan of Left 4 Dead still?

It's a pretty fucking great game. I there were more games out there that let you play not only from the perspective of the infected, but of special infected like you can in versus.

Does anyone still play?

I like Left 4 Dead 2. Though I haven't played it in ages

I haven't played both games in a while but they were pretty fun. I was also sad when I learned they killed Bill off, he was my favorite character.

It did lead to one of the best trailers
and theme songs

Every time I play and a Boomer explodes, I hear 'the pickle man tricked me again'.

Poor Bill though. I always play as Bill. And I think all the trailers are fucking epic.

Right now I have no sound for my TV and hearing the music made me realise how great the audio is all over again. I have full captions on of course, but it does make playing a lot harder since so much of the game relies on hearing the enemies before you see them.

The first time I played Left 4 Dead I didn't have sound because someone was using the stereo for other reasons. So when I actually played the game with sound my mind was blown by how much easier it is with the audio cues.
At least Bill went out a hero. I really need to play the DLCs at some point.

The DLC is really good. I just played The Passing with a friend about an hour ago.

Bill went out like a boss, fighting 3 tanks at once. And I think they were on fire too.

I really wish I had steam. There are the most incredible mods out there. I love how the one I posted combines three of my interests: Chris, L4D and Pokemon.

I haven't played either in a long time. However, I do remember having boat loads of fun with the games.

I feel that L4D1 probably had a slightly better cast, but 2 had better levels. Although 1's Dead Center will always hold a special place for me.

L4D1 and 2 have some absolutely amazing modding communities. My games tend to be stuffed with mods. Panic in Pallet town and Helms Deep reborn hold special places in my heart.

I love the games, but haven't played in a long time. Mostly because I don't have people right now to play with.

Can't get in to a decent L4D2 public game. Either everyone sucks, or the ping is way too high.

Helms Deep is absolutely incredible. Probably the best mod I've seen, though I sadly haven't had the chance to play it myself. I badly want to.

My issue with public games is getting people who cheat. The other night in versus my friend and I had 2 incapped and 2 in orange and suddenly they were all up and in green... but none of them had health packs and they hadn't used their pills or adrenaline.

Give me your steam, we can get a Helms Deep game going.

That's the thing, I don't have Steam. Just XBox.

I think I might try and get a steam account and download it. I have no idea if it will run on my computer but I'd like to try. There are heaps of awesome people who play and they're all on Steam. Thanks for the offer. If I can get it to work I'll hit you up.

I used to play with Exball and Dork of Ages a lot. I'd be down to play L4D2 with whoever.

I haven't played in a while. It would be nice to play with actual people who want to play to have fun, and not join a random game with 12-years olds treating the game like its COD and yelling in my ears(LOL MUTED).

I play almost nightly with people who are the relics of a long-defunct message board (as am I). The board was run by Chet Faliszek, now at Valve, beginning in '99 and lasted more than a decade, so most of us have known each other (in the online sense) since Clinton was President but are pretty good friends anyway. There are plenty of newcomers, too, but they're all cool. I'd guess there are about forty of us. (Just got out of a Versus game before tooling in here.) One of the hive runs an Official Steam Server™ (I think he pays about $40 a month or so) -- it's public, but allchat is always on at Alienjack's Treehouse of Cockrub and you gotta be able to keep up with the jokes while killing like a true champion. No one else need apply.

Also, I've been (depending on how you look at it) either a) fiddling around making geometry, textures, and experimenting with zombie gymnastics, or b) making a campaign the likes of which have not been seen before, which is probably a good thing. I adapted my fractal landscape generator to import terrain into Source, and it works pretty well. If this silly video ever finishes uploading to WhoTube (15 minutes remaining, except it'll probably crash first) I'll post a video of a geometry test for one level. The nav mesh is not polished in the slightest, it has a hard time spawning hordes because everything's visible, pathfinding is a joke, its's way overstocked on weapons, etc., etc., and YES I KNOW. Bbut that wasn't the point. The point was my fairly groovy-looking cave, or more precisely "inside-out mountain". (Also seeing how well my shacks worked. Answer: ok, sort of.)

Oho, YouTube says it's loaded. That means you have to wait another hour. This is the only video I had that fit on one monitor, but nothing else was that interesting, either.

BUT ANYWAY -- Yeah, there are people here that still play L4D2. Friend me on Steam (Repomancer) and if you don't fill me with disgust, come join a game. Everyone's pretty good but we're just in it for the fun.
