Most police body armor is in the II, IIA, or IIIA types. These are Kevlar weave vests, rated to stop pistol rounds (9mm, .357 Magnum, and .44 Magnum respectively). To actually stop a centerfire rifle round you need military-grade type III or IV (which incorporate heavy rigid plates).

I get the feeling that these guys know nothing about guns. Or only know what they learned playing Call of Duty.

There was one series of tweets I remember (don't know if it was Anitfa or a game journalist) where their big plan to overthrow Orange Hitler was grab a gun from a cops holster while he's facing the other way, then use that to storm the national guard armoury. If that didn't work, run off into the woods and live off the land.

Firstly, that's a fucking fabrication. Call it bias, and it probably is, but I refuse to believe that guy has a private arsenal stocked up. Sadly, even if I'm wrong this is a catch-22 anyway. If he's lying he's a billy badass liar. If he's telling the truth, he's arming himself like the beloved southern hicks they love to hate for the same reason they condemned the previous presidency.

And in the end it doesn't matter, because I'm personally willing to believe that a southern, right-wing, redneck gun nut is a better shot than a leftist gun nut. Blame the radical side of the left for making me this biased.

So Resetera members are now stocking up on guns and sharing plans on taking out the police and military, that's almost as bad as buying problematic video games! These nutjobs would probably pull the trigger on you if you did an okay hand sign or spoiled a Nintendo Direct.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure that a left-wing jackass armed with only a pistol (assuming that the cop is too incompetent to use a taser or call for backup ASAP) is going to get gunned down before they even step foot into that armory. The only thing they'll accomplish is being added to lists of the dumbest ways to die.

Especially since a lot of departments now use SERPA or similar retention holsters specifically to prevent this kind of thing. Not that the typical Mad on the Internet at Cheeto Man type will know what that means.

Once someone is going for your gun, even if they're "unarmed," it's considered a deadly threat and you are justified in using deadly force in response. You are not obligated to wait until the criminal assailant steals your gun and murders you with it.
