I’ve never watched the films myself either. The main reason why I’m even skeptical of the anti-semitism implications is because the design of the goblins aren’t really unique to Harry Potter. Having long hooked noses and being greedy are fairly iconic design elements for goblins, no? At worst, it’s just unoriginal not anti-semitic. But that’s just how I see it

SO I don't know if anyone else has posted this shit, but I have a little story to tell. So, I keep an active tumblr. Ran away from the SJW shit when I was maybe 19, but I can't bring myself to leave (mostly bc there are a few decent artists I like, or just to have a bunch of shit all in one place, or furbies) but anyway. Some of the worst shit I've seen in this regard has come from The Adventure Zone fandom.

Dish claim her that I have never known what the fuck that whole Thing is about. I watch monster factory but that's it. But what I DO know is the Fat Taako Scandal.

So, into tumblr comes this girl. happy-moon-love, since deleted her account btw. She was like 15, and I know because I talked to her. She was a pretty normal kid who was big into fandom and shipping and disney BS, I also have to assume she wasn't a troll. She seemed a bit too open to change for that, but more on that in a moment.

Sorry for power-leveling a bit, but there has been some weird fucking discourse on tumblr. That rabies guy, the guy who wants to fuck trains, the guys who want to fuck kids, the guy who wanted to fuck scootaloo, the guy who wanted a human pet, and only ONE of those was a bonified joke. Someone on that fucking website was grave robbing once. I once saw a blog create hundreds of fraudulent giveaways of shiny pokemon, recruit some teenage girl to mod that blog, assume several fake identities (of other teenage girls) and then leave tumblr within a month to let said teen mod take the blame for whatever the fuck that was.

And this happy-moon-love person was just like. Posting comments on a bunch of fanart, saying that the fucking Taako Taaco elf isn't fat, he's skinny, he cares too much about his appearance to gain weight. Granted, directly calling out someone else's shit on their own blog that they drew for funsies and JO bait seems kinda rude, but your blog isn't set to password protect or private. YOU put that shit out there for the public to see, it's not like she was saying "OP you're ugly eat shit" (even if almost everyone took it that way) like, block her? move on? anyway

So there begins this campaign to draw Taako Taaco the elf who looks like someone drew him into a goodwill that's on fire as fat as possible. As dark skinned as possible (she never said anything about that part but I guess if you have any opinion ur also racist) with as many stretch marks and self harm scars as possible, and to tag this kid in alllllllll their fanart as a response. Side-note here, power levels ahoy, but as a recovering wrist slasher, those self harm scars on fucking every inch of that obese body make me hella uncomfortable. That's how you know in 0.1 seconds someone has never even thought about cutting.

OFF TRACK. So I message this happy-moon-love girl, and I tell her "hey. people are being really shitty to you. maybe you should just stop giving them more to fuss about by not responding to this art anymore. just reblog the art you like and they'll burn themselves out. you're just gonna become a big joke to them or worse"

Not word for word, but something like that. Same message. Because I had seen it all the damn time. If you buckle down and keep responding to these societal justin warios, they will keep beating that dead horse and making posts like "REMEMBER WHEN SOME BITCH SAID MY ELF WAIFU CANT BE FAT ASDFGFGHG"

So, she listened. I remember her being the first of the Tumblr Native Cringe ("cringe") that I reached out to who actually responded positively (usually it's "lol thanks but I have this covered") Said she'd just focus on the Taakos she did like, because she was tired of people being shitty. Happy ending, right?

WEEEEEEEEELL this came out, like, a day or two later.

So tumblr was fucking wild. It was like the liberation of France. But to my knowledge, she never responded to this reveal of "everyone is good and valid" I mean, you kind of CAN'T anyway, can you? Tumblr would eat her alive.

Anyways, that's my story of how some teenage girl who didn't like looking at art like that got bullied off tumblr and the Mackelmore brothers probably don't know about that. Was she being kind of rude? Yea. Was she a stupid teenager on the internet with 30 year old NEET SJW women yelling at her? Ye.

You know this art is pretty sytlized. Some of it can work. I don't consider this super SJW to myself because the artist clearly kept the characters bodies in mind. I can still recognize who they are compared to fat Taako who I can barely recognize at all. It's just that the colors are really muted and the expressions are ugly.

But to be fair, from what I see of Lupin the characters are pretty wacky to begin with ( in terms of animation that is).

Pretty much this. Hell, the only reason Tumblr jumped on the "JK hates Jews" train was because someone took a screenshot of the goblin banker scene to point out a Star of David was on one of the floor tiles in the background, suggesting it was included as a subliminal anti-semetic message. Except the film's set design had nothing to do with that because that was part of the building that they filmed the scene in, so trying to link that to JK trying to make the goblins a metaphor is grasping for straws.

I honestly don't get the continued obsession with Harry Potter at this point. The skeleton has long been picked clean to the point that they might as well throw out the entire series as being problematic trash. But I suppose it's hard to move on when you've only ever read one book.

I recognize this person, this is a weaker example but Millionfish's work is usually good. It feels less SJW-y because they have an actual grasp on fundamentals and their style is usually abstract as an artistic choice, rather than trying to show off how 'diverse and different' they can make people.
