article said:
Jeff Sessions has resigned as attorney general effective immediately after being asked to do so by President Trump, sources told ABC News.

"At your request, I am submitting my resignation," Sessions wrote in an undated letter to the president.

"Since the day I was honored to be sworn in as Attorney General of the United States, I came to work at the Department of Jusitce every day determined to do my duty and serve my country," Sessions wrote. "I have done so to the best of my ability, working to support the fundamental legal processes that are the foundation of justice."

Sessions' chief of staff Matthew Whitaker, a former United States attorney from Iowa, is going to be the acting AG for now.

I remember hearing something about this in the past. Trump pretty much implied back in an Aug. 30th interview he was going to get rid of Sessions after the midterm elections. So this wasn't some spur of the moment thing.

Don't know what your guys opinion is on Q Anon, but he apparently made a post once saying, "Trust Sessions."

Now fucking what?
Easy interpretation is that this is why kvetching about Sessions was wrong and was all according to plan. That Sessions was operating under Trumps plan to slam the DNC, Hillary, and others almost all at once in an avalanche of "get fucked now and forever".

This is at best a tumble, hardly an aerial cartwheel.

No, the dude's official Twitter handle just has those all by itself. ... A joke just flew right over my head, didn't it.

For a while a few years back "Juden-echo" extensions were all the white natty rage, taking a namelist of Jews and adding (((echos))) to their names. In response, some Jews and non-Jews added the echos themselves in "solidarity" or whatever.

A bunch of lefties started doing that after it became a 4chan meme, I guess in order to stand in solidarity with beleaguered Jews on the internet.

It's virtue signaling, in other words.
To give a quick rundown if my memory serves me right, /pol/ was using an addon to mark Jews with Echos in honor of some Jewish film saying the victims of the holocaust will echo into eternity. But then lefties on twitter saw that, and started deciding to use it as a form of pride for their heritage, leading to hilarious stuff like the SPLC's twitter handle changing to @((SPLC))

feel free to correct me if I'm wrong with anything here, I'm writing this all down from memory

Oh man this isn't something I expected, but it's exactly what I was hoping for without realizing.

Sessions was shit and focused on the wrong shit. He was obsessed with prosecuting fucking federal marijuana charges in states that made it legal. Like of all the dumb fucking shit to get obsessed with....

I guess I wasn't paying enough attention to realize Sessions was holding up all these various investigations and reports. I've been wondering where some OIG reports HK had mentioned a while back were, and I guess this is where.

I'm being a stupid :optimistic: but holy shit are we gonna get what we have been hoping for these last 2 years? Are the dems going to be taken to task for all the unlawful and sketchy ass shit they've been up to? They're not going to like being on the other side of neverending nonspecific "investigations". I might need a new avatar, I'd love a Mad Maxine Mugshot!

Yeah the more I read into this Matthew Whitaker guy, the more I like him. If he ends up being the permanent choice for the acting Attorney General, I wouldn't even be mad. He really, really does not like Hillary Clinton. I'm not gonna' whip out the turbo-optimism just yet, but Matthew Whitaker has expressed a lot of very serious interest in locking her up.

Considering it was one of the points that earned Trudeau up here a landslide victory, it would be hilarious if Trump offered that just to see the pinkos try to become teetotal puratins.
You'd probably be surprised to learn that this is a age group issue in the US (like gay marriage was, and abortion generally) and not a partisan one. Minnesota, the first state to decriminalize (under a republican IIRC) just replaced its staunchly Democrat, anti-marijuana governor with another, younger, Democrat who isn't. Our medical Marijuana law here is next to useless, so fingers crossed.

Most Republicans are just as pro-legalization as democrats even if office holders don't always reflect that. Much easier to regulate something that's legal - a 12 year old has a much easier time getting weed than cigarettes, and money wasted on pot enforcement is money that could be spent dealing with the opiate and meth crises.

Our medicinal Marijuana laws are so screwy here - one of the two farms is a mile from my house. They had to build a giant Trump-style wall around it so no one could see it.

Why did Trump pick Sessions, then resign him later? That doesn't make sense.

EDIT: so the new guy Trump is picking is adamant about investigating the Clinton Foundation, if I'm reading this correctly. Not only that, but won't look into the Muller (or Russia, whatever it is) investigation. Isn't that too suspicious, especially since it's after the midterms? Who hired Sessions and why did it take so long to drop him as AG?
